DIY - Restore stained stock rims.

Hey guys,

I wanted to post a quick DIY to show how to easily restore your stock aluminum rims that suffer from brake dust staining.

Put down the steel wool. Forget the rubbing compound. The only thing you need is the Mothers Clay Bar Detail Kit:

http://www.autobarn.net/ch07240.html...Faw-MgodyHAAXg

You simply wet the area to be cleaned with the included detail spray, and take a small piece of the clay bar (you don't need the whole bar).

The rub quickly and repetitively over the tarnished area. You don't need to press hard, in fact if you do it doesn't work as well. It takes persistence but not pressure.

After each area that you clean with the bar, fold it over on itself to expose a fresh area.

Then continue on!

You won't believe how well this works.

Here are some pics, the original owners of this car had taken steel wool to them and completely scratched them up. The clay knocked the scratches back as well.

Have you tried Iron-X before clay barring it?

I was about to say, iron x or sonax would have been a better first choice imo
