So there are two apps needed? Looks like I need to hit the SOS button too as I do not have a user login.

Thanks for the info guys, but seems to me it would be smarter for BMW to have one app that does it all and just "gray out" features not available for different optioned cars.

BMW Connect and the lap timer do require the BMW Apps option as they do talk to the car, so combining them into one IOS app is probably not something BMW would do. |

And yes, you have to SOS to get the login for the Remote App. There isn't much functionality in this one. There's the send address from Google which works well. Locking/unlocking requires you to call the Assist number and talk to someone, so you don't really need the app for that. The horn beep and headlight flash does work. I also cannot get the car locator to work...does the car have to be running?!? If so, it's not so useful for locating your car in a large parking lot for example.
The Connected app must be running on your iphone in order for you to use the compatible apps. Plus it doesn't work with BT connection. USB and I think snap-in. I've also noticed that once you use one of the BMW apps, there's no way to quit/select another unless you go to the device and "close" it with the home button. Still needs some work. iOS doesn't have Dragon Drive yet either . |
