335d feeling a bit sluggish

Hey group...wanted to see if any of you have experienced this with your d's. Lately the car just doesn't seem to have the oomph that it normally has. slower acceleration response time, not as much stuck to my seat kind of feeling, etc. I don't see any service requirements or lights, so I'm not sure what to think. Car has 34k miles on it so it's pretty low mileage. Just thought I'd put it out there to get a group consensus. Maybe it's just me and my body is telling me I need to pull the trigger on the JBD, or maybe it's something else others have experienced and dealt with.

Let me know your thoughts. I hear and read a lot about injectors and carbon build up.....

Thanks!

Hard to diagnose with such little info, but could be various possibilities. Small turbo actuators, vacuum lines..

Need to get your car checked for any BMW codes that are in the system; this may help.

Don't jump to the carbon build up conclusion.

Also consider the throttle body adaptation reset.

It's more like a throttle curve reset... the diesels still have a throttle-by-wire mapped by the ECU.

I have no idea if that procedure actually does anything though.

huh. Doesnt read like a pedal position relearn to me, but I guess every manufacturer is free to use whatever procedure they want for a pedal position relearn so who knows. If you have a scanner you can plug it in and verify if the DDE is reading 100% when the pedal is on the floor

Just tried doing this method this morning and I gotta say the initial throttle response has noticeably improved on D mode. Sure it's kind of a dog when downshifting on the freeway sometimes but that's what the paddle shifters are there for. The initial throttle response on DS mode isn't as jumpy as before but just surprised with the smoother and quicker feel of acceleration on D mode.

I know there's like ten different methods out there on the forum (tried them all) but this one looks different as it tells you to wait two minutes after doing the acceleration method (or were they all the same?). Now, it doesn't say whether you have to press the kickdown button or not when accelerating but I did.

I know I know. Could be the placebo Kool-Aid that I'm drinking and I haven't driven in D mode for quite a while but all I can say is that I'm going to start using D mode more often!

I tried it too, and do notice a nice result. Bringing the car into BMW service on wednesday to see if they have anything to note.

For grins, I did this procedure before setting out today. I'm not sure I noticed any difference. My mind wanted me to notice something, and maybe I did, but if so it was really subtle.

Worked for me. I can drive in "D" now and leave "DS" for other times.

I did a before and after test. This works noticeably. I now have a P02D4 code SES light on now lol. Go figure.

how many times does this so called reset need to be done and what is it actually doing, can the car revert back to the way it was before the reset and how do you know when it does, just by the feel of the power, do you reset it everyday just to make sure throttle response is their???

You may want to try just adding a cleaner to a tank or two to clean up the gunk on the injectors.

I tried the BG cleaning additive and I could tell a difference in idle and off the light improvements. When it is cleaning if there is something, there may be times the idle gets quite rough before getting better.

I believe its a TPS reset and based on that re-learns your pedal position and response to your happy foot input. But then if you drive in the city and are easy on the pedal, your car will re-learn back to mild inputs.
