SL 63 performance pkg vs M5 both stock (video)

Hi guys,

My friend just recorded this back in UAE. Don't see much of the m5 after the race starts lol. Oh and M5 had brand new set of michelin pss and the sl63 had worn out tires which you can hear if you listen closely.

He even raced an 800 bhp pp performance tuned M6 but waiting for him to upload it.

Do you guys think the 2014 M6 with cp would be able to match it?

Interesting results to say the least. I would have thought the M5 would have handled its own much better in the rolling run. I have an SL63 PP albeit tuned but in stock set up the M5 would give it a very good run. The AMG is easier to launch even with its excessive OEM tq (664 in the PP) IMHO so that win is credible but, to me, that SL appeared to be tuned. It just pulled!!

This. The car was tuned, or the M5 driver was a shill.

There's way too much video evidence of M5 being faster than these AMGs let alone getting smoked by them stock.

SL63 weights in at ~4000lbs and M5 comes in at ~4400lbs so YES I would expect the same result as in this video especially with the PP on SL.

I am not so sure. The SL63 PP weighs a good 200+lbs less than the M5 and as Vic stated it produces 664lbs-ft of torque. In the standing start acceleration runs the SL63 jumped out, but you can see the M5 in the side view mirror staying with the SL63. If the SL63 was tuned, it would have been much worse. I think the driver of the M5 could have done a better job. What level of traction control was used by the M5 driver? Who knows, but the SL63 PP is a FAST car stock. Here are some magazine #'s:

0-100mph: 7.9s
0-130mph: 12.9s
1/4m: 11.8 @ 124mph

Very similar to an M5's data, so the driver most likely was the difference in the video results.

I don't dispute that SL63 is a very fast car - but the way it was repeatedly smoked by the SL63 in this video goes against what I've read elsewhere; it should have been much closer at the very least.

EDIT: just noticed the one in these vids has PP and JumpinJim's doesn't.

I stand corrected, and will from now on carry more respect for SL63PP.

Before I got my PP I borrowed the normal version and the difference was easily noticeable.

Its so much more of a car than the W212 E63 IMHO, lighter and faster in the real world. All my friends who did the AMG challenge said it was clearly the best car of the lot in their range (SLS ruled out). And its why I still have it after 6 months
