Temp dropped 10F by using redline

After receiving my car for a month and 1k miles. I change the break in oil to redline 5w-40. The engine oil temp dropped significantly by 10 degrees.
My engine used to run 240-255 with daily local driving by using BMW oil. Now the temp is between 235-240 without pushing hard; the temp never hit 250 yet.

Very significant temp drop.
One thing I noticed, the BMW oil was BLACK like black ink when I did the oil change.

I would say the ambient temp dropped few degree, but not a lot. Before I change to redline, the temp on highway stay around 240-250. (w/o push the car hard) Now, the oil temp stay between 230-235. (both on highway)

Not sure if the redline helped, but very interesting.
One thing as I said, BMW oil was BLACK like black ink for only 1k miles. I do not think that is a good sign.

I usually let the rpm stay below 4.5k. Full throttle from 2k and let the rpm drop to 2k by using engine break. (hard break in as I saw someone suggested)

If there the speed is within 40 mph, the temp will stay around 250. About 240 now with redline.

Intresting I drive my car like i stole it all the time and those of u that know me will admit to this!!! And my car has yet to go over 240!!!
I did do a 1k mile oil change with full 0-40 so maybe that did it too?
Ive got a manual fully modded as well so im hoping the FMIC puts me down at 230 tops!!

This is a absolutely normal occurrence with oil! If your oil would have been clean, then you have to worry about your oil.

+1. This is a common misconception that even Jiffy lube doesn't seem to understand. They told me my oil was dirty, but the oil analysis lab had shown that the black oil did not equate to dirty oil. Ergo Jiffy Lube techs are idiots and are just trying to sell more oil changes.

Exactly right. If you are really concerned about your oil send off a sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis.

How come I never see my e46 oil was that black? In addition, I did the oil change at home. Not jiffy lube guys.
I still do not think it is not a good idea to get the first oil change at 15k.
