Hello from NYC

Hi everyone!

I just picked up my new BMW 335i xDrive yesterday, and am very excited to be joining your community. This is my first car since I moved to NYC almost 6 years ago. I used to be pretty active in the online Nissan community, so looking forward to get to know you and make some contributions.

Now begins the slow 1200 mile break in period...

Nicd, congrats...I went to open road as well...Very nice ppl. But I can't believe they put your front license plate frame on unless they asked you first? They asked me as they were installing my ppk and mpe and I said just leave it off.

Thanks, all!

Steve - They left the holder off initially, but I just asked them to put it on because I didn't want to deal with any heat from the cops in NY. Figure I can either fill or plug it if I end up moving somewhere without that requirement.

Will be out of town this weekend, but will definitely look out for the next meet in the area.

Which Open Road did you deal with? I had some issues with Open Road of Morristown 2 months ago. One particular salesman there tried use some scare tactics to convince me not to comparison shop with BMW Dave out in California, and gave me a quote $100/month higher for a lease. Ended up at Open Road of Roxbury instead and they matched. Dave's offer. I won't ever return there. But good that you dealt with someone better as well.

Car looks great. Wish I didn't need the practicality of the Wagon, as I love the 4 series looks.

I dealt with open road Edison. Now that you mention the comparison shopping, Edison didn't want me to leave either as the manager tried desperately to keep me the office but I just left. As I started my truck to leave, they made me an offer that made me shut my truck off and do some paper work.

thanks

I got ya...yea I went smooth for first 8 months with no plate...then got stopped about a week ago for first time about my plate. Told him I was waiting for a special mount from Europe and showed him I had the front plate In my car. He just laughed and said put it on and let me go. But later that night got a parking ticket for no front plate lol. Just going to go with oneeighty auto front plate frame to fix that problem.

It's such an annoying law. The ONEighty frame looks nice! Maybe I should have investigated a bit more.

Didn't go to the open road in Edison. I dont have problems with trying to make money, but I had issues with the guy in Morristown bad mouthing other methods of car buying, as well as using scare tactics. He was saying because they are the flagship Open Road in NJ that they have the most inventory and other Open Roads couldn't match them. Well I was doing custom order and Open Road of Roxbury ended up matching my internet deal, so there goes that.

Hate that type of salesmanship...
