M3 ?

Just rang up about one as the price looked fantastic to find out that they had wrongly priced the vehicle. Got chatting and the dealer i rang said they could get me into a new M3 to my spec within 3 months
Does anyone know if this is the norm and if so then this must be a sure sign that the economy is going the wrong way !

It's not that - it's actually because BMW over-estimated the number of people who wanted the new M3 straight away. There hasn't been as big a clamour for the new car as there was for the old E46 M3.

It true with the delivery time as a few others have said so on other forums. I agree with you but there has to be more to it as there is no waiting list what so ever.

the M3 is overpriced compared to the E46. It doesnt look as special. Its mpg is rubbish. i think these atributes are more to do with it than the economy.

Loads of people can afford one, however they dont offer IMO what the E46 did back in 2001.

That one does look very nice. However I saw a Black one in Reading this week and I thought it was a 335 at first.

It would be Interlagos Blue for me Carl. The one series coupe is progressing, went to the launch today and have a test drive booked for next Saturday.

Concur. Would still love one in theory, but if I had the cash I'm not sure -I think the fuel figures would kill it if I actually had to run the thing. If I was loaded it wouldn't matter but then would I be looking to bigger things anyway? Lop £10K off and it would sell like crazy IMHO.

+ 1 to the above, trouble is if you lop 10K off you're in 335D/I money and that would probably kill the M3 stone dead.

In white, and with a drop it looks stunning, awesome performance but with silly MPG figures which is only to be expected given the engine.

In saying all the above,I think the economy could well be a factor, mortgage lending in Oct was the lowest on record and the used car market is on it's knees.Housebuilders are recording lower profits and are slowing down or mothballing new projects. If ever there was a sign that we could be in for a rough ride, take a look at Housebuilder share prices.

If I could afford the running costs and purchase price of the M3,I would probably buy something else.

Fair point. So BMW should reduce all their prices by £10K to compensate

I come to the end of my current mortgage "deal" in March, I`m hoping there`s an interest rate cut before then and this time I think I`m going to jump on a 5 yr fixed rate.

Unfortunately if this happened the secondhand / trade in price of our cars would be pants.

If you are in for the long term then it is the difference between the trade in and the new purchase that matters

What you boys must remember is that this car is a 4.0 V8 and will never be cheap to run no V8 is but they are nice cars that have hit the market at the wrong time and are overpriced, but you HAVE to drive one properley to appreciate them.I still buy into the M thing rightly or wrongly and had an E46 M and loved it but can you remember all the hoo ha about the CSL being SO overpriced etc they are now the PH car of choice

For me, and this is completely IMO love the new Coupe shape, some do some don't and i also loved the E60 whilst every "journo" were still horrified about the change from the E39 but with the 335d fantastic as they are just are not drivers cars and the M IS

I think the delivery times have been cut due to way they produce the E9x series cars. They have adopted a different ethos.

I think it also explains why they have a defect issue with cars being delivered with silly part faults.

I do also agree that the M3 is well overpriced, I don't about many others on here but I think its too much for a M3. The current financial problems have also a knock on effect on how many are out there. I only seen my 1st M3 last week by chance it was red.
