The new BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) bows its head for the first time in public at the New York Autoshow. Based on the current X3, the new X4 comes in at $45,625 and will be offered in the familiar 240HP 2.0L 4-cylinder N20, dubbed the xDrive28i and the Turbocharged 3.0L 6-cylinder xDrive35i ($48,925).

The X4 starts production this summer at BMW's Spartanburg South Carolina plant. Expect to see the X4 dueling it out with the upcoming Porsche Macan!

Came out really good, but 49k for a 3.5 without options and no dual exhaust is a bit insane!

I better get rich soon as BMW is not making easy for mid-class buyers anymore.

Not bad, however I cannot believe BMW was so cheap they used the old fenders off the X3 instead of make new ones for both models considering the X4 is a NEW xCar.

So cheap they just capped the hole where the turn indicators went.

I like the nav screen better in this rather then the floating screen in the 3/4 series. The whole thing looks pretty good.

Nice touch matching the interior trim on the upholstery with Melbourne Red. I saw one on the PCH (camo'd up of course lol). Looks great with all wrappers off!

Great looking car. I will need to hone my BMW awareness skills so I can differentiate the baby X6 from the big brother X6.. Side profile is really, really similar. And that's a good thing. Well done, BMW.

Nice interior.

Rear 3/4 view looks like the "Outback" version of a 3GT.

This is actually a lot nicer then I expected - too bad you can't get some interior leather upgrades that dash is just too plastic!

That M Sport package Looks like BMW saved a lot of aftermarket tuners by making their 'sport' kit tasteless themselves!

x4 is on my next car radar - but the competition is going to be tough..Especially with the Macan now in the mix..

IMO the X4 is at a disadvantage until they offer me something sexier in an interior vs my X3 (they didn't) and either a torquey as hell diesel or more than the two option 4 vs 6 current generations..

In other words, I'm somewhat bored with it...

I like it but just find it hard to justify the size. The X6 is bigger and still lacks quite a bit of cargo space. As someone mentioned earlier it will make a great loaner car when my M's need service.
