You can record Sirius on the hard drive--like a one hour buffer or something like that. Maybe because of my options, but it's in the manual.

Timeshift Approx. one hour of the program being broad‐ cast on the channel currently being listened to is stored in a buffer. Prerequisite: the signal must be available. The stored audio track can be played with a de‐ lay following the live broadcast. When the buffer is full, the older tracks are overwritten. The buf‐ fer is cleared when a new channel is selected. I don't consider this really "storing" Sirius to the HDD; it's just a delay buffer. It's not like you can create a catalog of recorded Sirius media that is stored on the HDD like you can by ripping a CD or copying a USB stick of audio. |

The HDD in the CIC has a PATA interface which you really can't find anymore.
The 80GB HDD is a special model built explicitly for use in cars. It's the largest one they make with a PATA interface. http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/hdd...?productid=225 I think the NBT HDD is SATA, so there may be more options there. Rather than storing your music on the HDD, just use a big USB stick. You have access to much larger storage and they are easily swapped. Or just stream from your phone. |

MY2014+ cars with Nav use a 200GB hard drive with 20GB of music storage, as opposed to the aforementioned 80GB hard drive with 12.5GB of storage.
Non-nav iDrive cars still use a hard drive, there's just no ability to store music as it clearly has much less capacity. |
