http://forums.e60.net/index.php?auto...eq=si&img=2002 Your car has the M57TU2D30 engine, originally introduced to the 330d in 2005: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M57 According to realoem.com the 330d has the GA6HP26Z transmission which is rated at 600nm http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...16&hg=24&fg=05 The earlier version of the 325d had the GA6HP19Z transmission which is rated at 400nm Since your car produces 400nm of torque, by deductive reasoning it cannot have the GA6HP19Z gearbox and I expect that it must have the same gearbox as the 330d. To get a definitive answer I think you will need to phone BMW. |

Thanks nfs
Yes i am sure you are correct as i looked up on oem part finder and found it listed the GA6HP19Z rated at 400nm .If this is the case a remap is totally out of the question but if as i belive you are also correct about the new box a remap will be well worth considering .I was told on this site the difference between a 325/330d was the size of the turbo and injectors .But i now belive this is totally wrong and am willing to belive Kevin bird from birds tuning that the engines are the same just the engine maps are different .Would the gearbox need some sort of programing so as to work better with the extra bhp ?? .I do know that software can be changed on x5 bmw so assume its the same for the e90 any help would be good thankyou

Thanks e92
Hi i must admit i really have been thinking long and hard about this remap issue ,I only do about 3k a year and my e90 is just a toy i wasnt prepaired to loose loads £ on it so went for a middle of the range car ,something practicle and affordable and smart looking ,I had a 3.0 d x5 and loved the engine and considered the 325d m sport would be a good option as 3.0d in a smaller body would be quick enough,But now i know that if i get it remapped it will be the same as a 330d i am so so tempted to do it .But as a born worry guts will it be picked up by bmw if there are warrenty issues ?? will it trash the stock box etc etc .I fit was just a chip change and 1k i am sure it would be a sound investment thanks for any help
