Unable to reset oil service indicator

Hi - 2010 E92, out of warranty.

Just had my oil changed by a quality local mechanic, and I'd like to reset the oil indicator in the CBS.

I follow the instructions (trip odometer for 2-3 seconds, toggle to oil, hit B/C)

I get the RESET indicator, but when I press B/C, the current oil life is still displayed.

Any ideas?
