Another 330D!
Hi all,
Picked up my 330D X Drive M Sport from TRL this morning. Excellent service from them and a great price of course. Also thanks to all on this forum as I would never have considered a new 330d until I knew of the discounts on offer from reading your posts. The spec: Glacier Silver Black leather interior, Brushed alu trim with black gloss finisher Pro Nav Pack M Sport plus pack Visibility Pack Heated Seats Coming from an E90 on 18's I found this car very soft, it really insulates you well from bumps and potholes and doesn't have any of the crashiness that my old car had. Both my new car and the old car have GoodYear Eagle Assymetric 2 tyres, however on the E90 they were normal NON run flats. Even so the F30 ride is far better. Anyone getting adaptive to stick it in comfort and enjoy the soft ride don't bother, unless your coming from an S Class you will find this very cosseting. Handling seems fine, it certainly doesn't seem to roll at all and this was a concern for me as some on this forum seemed to think it would handle like an old Renault Espace. Seems no worse than my E90. One thing that does stop me from pressing on is the steering, my wife will love it as it is very light compared to the E90 however it feel like one of those old Sega Rally arcade machines, disconnected and lacking in feel somewhat although this is well documented and was expected. As far as the engine goes noticeably more refined than the 320d. Car had 6 miles on the clock at pickup and 12mpg showing on the OBC. The 50 mile drive home brought this up to 41mpg which is encouraging for a tight new engine. Did you all get a hard copy of the manual and a Service book, just realised I didn't get either! Dont know if its all electronic now. Anyway pics below: |

Looks great. Not many silvers about, nice to see one.
Enjoy your new toy! I certainly got a paper manual, no service book though.

Very nice!
Yes, you should get a hard copy handbook for the car and separate one for Pro Media.

Aah ok, will mention the hard copies to them, maybe they can post it. Looking forward to trying out the High beam assist and Xenons tonight, the halogens in the old car were quite poor.

Great looking car. Have fun driving it and playing with the toys. Still 2 weeks to go for me.

Looks lovely.
Apart from colour and not an F31, will be same spec as mine so interested how X drive 330 is without adaptive. My current 320d sport plus is rather jarring. Have fun with your new toy and report back on the lights |

I find the handling perfectly fine, although I make good progress on twisty roads I'm not one to take a car to its limits though. More enthusiastic drivers may prefer a firmer setup. Doesn't feel floaty or wallowy though. Only chink in the armor is the lack of feedback from the steering. Adaptive wont make this any better though. Wife asked me twice if the steering had broken, couldn't get her head round why it was lighter than the clio's, corsas etc that she is used too |
