how to protect your seat/leather
I recently bought my car. Used 2012 335i coupe m package, and other options that I have no idea what I have .
Well I want to protect the seat from ripping or getting damaged. I was thinking buy a big ass shirt and putting over it, but that would look dumb as hell, and I have red/black interior I can't show it off if I have a big ass shirt over it. what are some of the things you guys do to protect the seats? anything i can buy to protect the seats? much input are appreciated!! THANKS! |

Hmm...not sure I really understand your dilemma. All 5 of our cars have leather...on the truck, I purchased some large Bath Sheets (really big towel) and had the sewing shop fold over the top and put elastic on it (top / bottom)...she laid it over the seat to get the sizing right. If I have been working on something and am dirty I will get out the custom towel and put it on the seat to drive the truck...easy to wash the towel and they really wear forever in this purpose. But if not dirty or anything...I just sit on the leather. I dont have any problems with normal wear on the seats...

This reminds me of people that keep their remotes in the original "new" plastic bags or the beautiful couches that are forever covered because they're afraid of it getting used or old.
Leather will wear. If you keep it clean and properly conditioned, it will last much longer. Dirt essentially acts like a sand paper agent. As for keeping it conditioned, i like the leatherique conditioners. |

Yes all leather will wear with age.
Like mentioned above if u keep it clean and conditioned it will last a lot longer. I personally use Perrone leather cleaner with conditioner. We use it at work on private jets, Works great and smells good. |

Giant, 4" thick white sheepskin seat covers, bro.
Or one of those wooden bead covers the cabbies use. |

I don't know why, but this thread made me think of the clear plastic covering that grandmas used to put on their sofas and area rugs in the 70's. That's basically what leather car seats of today are "covered" with on the top layer.

Exactly. So when you guys are "conditioning" your leather youre not really moisturizing anything. All auto leather is sealed to protect it from staining.
