Gotta hand it to the styling...I dig the A7 looks, perhaps more so with diesel clatter

Buttery smooth 8-speed on a torquey diesel?!

Styling that trounces on its segment competitors?!

Just as good in MPGs as the 335d?!

I'll take one please. Or the RS7. I'm not picky.

A6 TDI is at the top of my list for my 335d replacement when the time comes.

Speaking of replacing my 335d - do the Audi TDI motors require a top-end rebuild every 50-60k miles for carbon buildup?

I think so. If you think the CL550 looks better than the A7 though, you need to get your eyes checked.

The Aztec was just a cardinal sin.

I too absolutely detest the sight of an a7, I think its butt ugly and should be taken off the market. The backend totally ruins the look of the car. Its the retarded GT type back of the roof that just doesnt work at all.
I'll take an A6 with a TDI though love those cars.

This is why they sell so many different makes and models of cars. To cater to all the different opinions.

I agree. The people that like the a7 are entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I think it's a fantastic motor, then again so is the M57. I'm just wondering if it's going to have the same problems down the road that the M57 has due to the emissions crap.

I enjoy the inside of it but there is something outside that is not convincing me to say it looks nice. Wonder about carbon build up, will it have the same issues as ours??

Ahhh a chance for my psychological analysis rant.

I think you have a "hangup" here, not a true aesthetic opinion. I have heard a similar thing about the Panamera and I never did understand it.

It reminds me of the e92 drivers who more often than not seem to think the e92 is so much better looking than the e90. It seems on these forums that e92 drivers wouldnt be caught dead driving a sedan. To me, I look at both cars and it appears the differences are so minor to be laughable. I can only conclude that such extreme preference is the result of some kind of "hangup". I suspect e92 drivers think they will get laid more because of the "sportiness" of the 2-door and they allow their nether regions to influence their aesthetic opinion. Now, I have no proof of this, no study showing this to be the case, but this is the internet and I am expressing my opinion so there.

Here we have the anti-hatchback hangup rearing its ugly head again. To me, I believe e91s are aesthetically superior to e90s or e92s for that matter, so I obviously dont suffer from this (and you can take the rails off e91s if you dont like them). So I wonder what the source of this anti-hatchback/traditional trunk obsession? My only guess is that the Pinto craze and the profusion of similar "practical" designs on cheaper cars is something that some people dont want to be associated with, and that this really isnt an aesthetic conclusion -- its more of an elitist attitude. So there.

I wonder what people would say about an A7 if it would be a Chevy for example... And by the way my previous car was an E92 and now I have an E90. Hard to compare a coupe with a sedan though, it's like apples and oranges, two different categories. With that, I think BMW does a GT fastback way better than Audi or Porsche did with their A7/Panamera body. It's like an X6/X4 is way more balanced than Acura's ZDX. On the opposite end, some people did find Suzuki X90 to be cute (sales numbers did not), but Nissan Juke seems to be successful, although bug-eye ugly to some. Pontiac Aztecs did sell some too, to each their own.

My aesthetic opinion is that hatchbacks have a tendency to look silly, but I don't see the a7 as a hatchback and actually didn't know that until now. I genuinely just think its ugly, no hangups required. Also, the e91 is a station wagon, different category from a hatchback IMO. Station wagons don't have a style opinion, they just either exist or don't. They're in my style category with vans and buses.
