Hi!
Hi all...
Been lurking for a few weeks, reading and seeing whats going on etc... Ive changed job, and instead of being told what car i had to have, have now been told i can have anything i want providing it fits 2.0 Diesel engine, and the car is big enough for my role and the list price is below £32k So instantly went to Barons in Farnborough to have a drool over my options... Ive opted for a 320d ED Business, with the comfort interior and front parking sensors in white.. Im extremely excited already - but wont have access to my car until June :-( How do you all cope? lol Ive seen some threads discussing programming, is there much that can be programmed thats worthwhile? I seem to understand that my car should have EBT already as its build date is definitely going to be after Week 10... but not having access to the leasing company or anything this time round have no data about the build etc.. Anyway... Hi! :-) |

Welcome. Im currently in a e90 ED , and have really enjoyed 3 yrs of frugal motoring. This time though, have opted for more performance. But the ED was no slouch. A long wait till June, but I'm sure the time will fly.

Well im going from a 115bhp Saab 9-3 ........................................
So will be a huge difference to me... lol I took a 12 plate out that they had on the forecourt that was a ED... and it felt nice.. didnt really get to play in a 330 or anything to compare.. but the new company are insistent on 2.0 diesel engines for some reason... pretty much the only rule as to the car you can choose :-/ I ordered the car in the first week of March, and start with the new company on the 2nd June - so hoping its there waiting for me.... and that one of the other toe rags hasnt been out enjoying it... lol |

I've never had a company so don't really know about BiK, how much would a 19% BiK car cost you per month?

Thats just the tax element - you still forgo the allowance too (which has a monthly cash value)

It worked out (BIK + allowance) about even for me as the company car is completely maintained, rubbered, insured, taxed (fixed if some scrotum scratches it) - hassle free! Completely free choice for me also, there was a max rental value which I had to pay the diff in cash if I went above it. It just covered a 330d MSport + adaptive, I owe just £123 in cash - better than a £2k deposit!! If the BIK% keeps increasing though it won't be worth it in 3 yrs.

What do you guys refer to as your allowance? Is that your fuel allowance?
I opted out of private mileage fuel a couple of years ago... unless your doing more than 15k private mileage a year, its actually costing you money to have the perk... If you go here http://comcar.co.uk/newcar/companyca...25452442&clk=1 It shows you the per month cost in tax... the company pays for everything other than my private mileage... So my on the road cost is £180 per month |

I would either get taxed the BiK or PAYE on the additional income. In my case, I dont have a company funded fuel card. So that is out the equation.

Ok, a little confused..... you dont get a BIK deduction in your tax if you take the allowance instead... you just pay your standard tax rate against the allowance..
So if you opt out of a company car, and get an allowance instead - you would pay 20/40/45% in tax based on your total income on that allowance.... With the BIK, the 320d ED is now 17% (was 16% last year) - so the amount i get taxed on is 17% of the list value of the car per year.. so £31,675 (inc. my options) i think.. So my benefit in kind is £5384 and i pay 40% of that value to HMRC as a tax deduction = £2154 per year... I think if i opted for the fuel, thats another £1500 ish per year too that HMRC take off me... |
