Who in BMW chose the brake color?
I am just wondering what were the designers in BMW thinking when they decided to make the stock brakes Blue? I understand that some parts are made in a certain way in order to boost the sales of modification parts, but did they make the brakes blue just so that more people go with ceramics? Blue does not match any of the colors offered for either M3 or M4. It just doesn't make sense. Now I will need to repaint them or buy M Performance brakes, just so they don't look weird.

Brakes
Ordered Sapphire Black and think blue will be a nice look, either that or back to powder coating back to Brembo red. Saw a Black RS4 with Blue brakes which allayed my concerns re blue.

Silverstone will look best with the blue calipers by bringing out the blue hue of the paint, but so will the whites as well as Azurite and Tanzanite.

Brakes
Agreed- Blue seems to be getting more popular. Saw a Black RS5 with it which inspired me to keep the blue/black sapphire combo. Plan on highlighting Black seats w/ Blue inserts and stitching highlights. Maybe do the same w-after Mrkt front splitter like a lot of the M3s you see in Autocouture's photo collection. All ideas at this point.

I checked with a local powder coater... $400 to strip and recoat the brakes. Hi-temp ///M decals can be easily located. I have a pressure brake bleeder, jack stands, jack, etc. Bleeding brakes with a pressure bleeder is very easy. I just need to match the Phoenix yellow that BMW in their brake kits.

Personally, I am happy with the blue. I think it will look good on my AW car with silver wheels. I like this color a lot more than the nasty yellow/green on the ceramics.
But, I guess it would be cool to have options for those who preferred a different color. That said, it would make manufacturing more expensive, and really wouldn't be viable. A good shop should be able to powdercoat them whatever color you like.

The Caliper Colors make no sense
Anyone else think that BMW should have offered more color options for the calipers or just left them black or any other neutral color?
Gold = CCB Blue = Standard I don't see how a AY car can look good with blue calipers or a AW with SO interior with blue calipers SO with blue looks stupid as well. What were they thinking?

I disagree, I love the blue. Naturally I would have preferred red, but I don't mind the blue. Besides that, it's not very expensive to paint them.

So you would be okay with a blue caliper on a AY car? Really colorful I must say
Even if you got a SO interior? I agree blue is nice but as long as it doesn't clash with the car color. For example it looks great with a MW or a AW but throw in a SO exterior or interior and it looks weird.

Agree with OP.
While blue might make sense for some how hard would it have been just to give us color choices?

Blue looks good with Silverstone - so I like the blue
I would have been bummed if they were red - black would have been acceptable. But OP is right - BMW could have provided an option for color - for an additional charge of course. Is this something BMW has done in the past on M cars? |

No one should be buying AY in the first place so it shouldn't matter.

So you think YMB and red calipers would look good? Thanks but no thanks. Colors look fine as it is.
