335d about to go out of warranty

Hi guys, I've got a 2011 lci 335d about to hit 80000km and was wondering what I should be looking for to get done to the car before the warranty runs out.

Currenty living in Ontario, and work was done on the car at bmw Autohaus and Maranello bmw. This involved oil changes, recalls and cracked/ripped water seals on front door.

I changed brake pads to aftermarket because of the dust on oem and went with OEM rotors. Loving the combination however dont remember the names of the pads. Work was done at Bavarian Motors, a great shop in Markham if anyone is looking.

Mainly I just want the car to be 'perfect' and get the most out of the warranty before it expires. I hit a pothole on the 401 about 2 months ago and blew a tire. It was replaced under tire warranty by a student intern at bmw autohaus through 3rd party. However the car seems to have started to vibrate when braking, probably need to check out the suspension and more recently the flat tire monitor goes crazy and once was combined with the abs warning light. All leading me to believe its a tire sensor.

1. Aside from that what else could I use the warranty for before it runs out? I've been reading about carbon cleaning, however my car doesn't seem to be running any rougher since I got it in 2011.

2. What is the best place (local) to get a rear tow hook cover (fell off when i hit the pothole) and drivers side lower front mesh as I just noticed it was cracked.

3. What do you guys think of 3rd party extended warranties? My current view is if the car needs to be serviced I will pay for it to get done. I feel that BMW extended warranty is too overpriced just for 'peace of mind'

You shouldn't own this car out of warranty, I had long conversation with the shop foreman at the dealership that I frequent.

And he highly suggests that this car will be a pain to maintain out of warranty. If you are able to get a warranty that will cover the emissions system and the carbon issues, then you definitely should because it will be paid off after your first issue.

You might not have the carbon issues yet, but it will probably creep up later. Unless you plan on removing the system EGR system. I would highly suggest you purchase some kind of warranty.

For the rear tow hook cover go to the Marranello Parts Department and ask for the Max Bimmer discount, it's 20% off.

+1. Nothing more has to be said. It might be a bit pricey but look at the past threads of guys who didn't get an extended warranty and were hit with a big fat bill from their stealership. Sure, some fought with management and BMWNA but not all of them got what they wanted.

I agree "You shouldn't own this car out of warranty"

I bought the Powertrain 100K miles extended warranty. I have now 54K miles and have been twice to dealer for SES light after my original warranty expired. I spent $50 out of pocket (first visit was goodwill from BMW). I have not recoup yet the cost of extended warranty but at this rate, it should not take too long.

GET THE ORIGINAL DEALER WARRANTY WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A WARRANTY

3000$ for platine 200 000km full warranty. It Will cover every single things even electronics .
If you don't buy the warranty , sell the car and don't buy third party warranty !!!!!!!

Warranty Warranty Warranty!! if that is not convincing then hear my story, 2009 335d started with limp mode, 3 months later they are still working and trying to clear the codes, did walnut blasting, replaced few sensors, injector and apparently they claimed 60 some hours of their labor (what I have been told) and still codes are showing up. Lucky me the car still has dealer warranty.

Sounds like they're throwing darts and hoping it lands on the true problem.

Take it elsewhere.

I paid less than $2k for 100K miles and 7 years warranty. I got the powertrain as all the problem that I got prior were powertrain issues.

i feel like for every 1 person that had issues with their D there is 10 other people that are enjoying smooth sailing...that's why i decided not to get extended warranty.(got quoted 4k) that's wheels and coil-overs money right there!!..and the only real issues seem to be emissions stuff...and if that were to ever come up just get rid of it all...(giving you more performance and better mpg)

Im thinking of getting rid of the egr system as soon as it gives. Never was a fan of the system on any diesel...

Anyone use their original 4yr/80000 warranty for anything else? I'd like to get the most out of the warranty while it is still on the car

My feel is the opposite, 10 have problems for everyone that do not have problems. For me, it has been a constant source of issues after 36K miles.

I just got my front bushings replaced the car was knocking pretty bad when I went over larger than average speed bumps.
My steering rack was replaced, there was a whine when I would turn at low speeds.
I've also gotten all my front air vents replaced for some reason the tabs that you direct the air with have fallen off on my car.
Also the rear seal where the back window and trunk meet has been replaced 3 times on my car it was loose on the passenger side corner.

Other than that can't think of any thing.

I think I am going to follow suit with visiting Jarek once my CPO is up.

You got a long time still. I'm at 49,000 kms and my warranty is up in June 2015.

I'll be visiting Jarek way before then.

Let's see how time passes, my commute to work is going to shorten significantly next month.

I am interested to see what Ecotune comes up with.

I'm not too keen on sending my DDE away. Only way I'd consider Ecotune is if they had a local shop handle the work here.
