I'm interested in how to set the oil change interval to 10,000 miles vs 16000 miles. I just picked up a CPO car with less than 10k miles. They set the oil change to 16000 miles or 2016!!!!! And they kept taunting free oil changes and stuff when I purchased the car. It's a 2013 328i.

I think the reset oil will just reset the predefined numbers, it won't allow me to adjust what the predefined numbers are... correct?

You nor the dealership can change the numbers.
If and when the numbers are changed for some reason, BMW AG do so via a software update sent out to dealers who load it on the cars.

I think part of the CPO process is an oil change. So having another 16k to go per the CBS monitor seems legit. Keep in mind, even if you don't hit 16k you'll be able to get an oil change for free each year while under warranty. You have to ask for this though and keep good records so you remember each year to take it in. We have 2 BMWs and they never get changed when the CBS says to. They get changed once every 6 months (once on my dime with me doing the work and again for the yearly paid for by BMW).

Thanks for the replies. Yeah it's funny the SA says that BMW now does oil changes every 10k miles, the service guy says it's done when the car tells them, and I'm like you... I will do one on my dime.

Not true.

You can code the car to have shorter service intervals. I have done this successfully already and so have many others.

Just change vehicle order to 8KL which is 10k miles or 12 months.

Do a search.

If you do this, will BMW change the oil when the car says so? If so, I'll want to get this done lol

Yup, they have to follow CBS.

Already had my first service done at 13.5k km. I wasn't willing to wait until 30k km!

It's a simple change but you will need to know how to code and have the correct cable and software.
