Something different from EBII

Embarrassment over, swirls gone, detailer did a spot on job but couldn't quite get out the scratch that the muttonhead dealer put on the bonnet.

Apologies in advance that it's not a 330 / 335D or an M Sport . oh and crappy pictures.

I would kick up f***k with the dealer regarding the deep scratch. Did you mention it when you picked it up ?
Although detailers can get rid of minor scratches, most are to deep they can't be touched up without sanding or respray.

Didn't see it, the bloke who did the detailing said that they'd tried to fix it as the paint is thinner around the scratch, he also said that they'd probably used filler to mask it.
Trouble is that the dealer is over a 100 miles away and I've had the car over 2 months, they lost interest in me when I said no to their paint protection rip off and their GAP insurance. Funny thing the GAP, quoted £700, when I said no they immediately dropped it to £180.

I would be taking it back and push the dealer.

You have a 30 day period to report problems.

Failing that write to customer services, basically kick up a fuss.

Someone scratched it after it left factory.

Push hard enough and they will pass the blame.

I think the fact that a repair has been attempted is a fair indictment although I am surprised that they didn't do a better job - they must have been in a rush.

I would tell them exactly what you've described here. It's worth a try.

PS: great looking car

There nothing wrong with Black Sapphire! After all since it's launch back in 2001/2002? Has been the favourite of many, including EBII drivers

I think your car looks very smart, like your wheels. Enjoy the car

Edit: I almost forgot, my weekend 'hair dresser's' car, the Z4, is Sapphire Black

Looks great! I really like those wheels- nicest non M-Sport ones there are by miles! I'm not the biggest fan of Sapphire Black... the Z4 we have is this colour, and I like it when I've just washed and polished it, but it never blows me away or seems to retain the glossiness when it's got a bit of dirt. Some of my other cars have looked so nice and glossy, even when they're filthy!

Looks fantastic. Forgetting the grief, it's a beautiful car and those wheels really work so well.

Thanks for all the comments, though I'll give the dealer a miss, they might end up wanting to spray it, I've had some bad experiences in the past and don't really want to go there again.

Car's Jet Black by the way, I think the detailer may be doing a write up on it on Detailing World, though there's already some pictures on his facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/deepshine.detail. Scratch is on the RH side of the bonnet, you can't really see it in the pictures so I might be making something out of nothing.

Looking at his pictures (and mine) the F31 really looks the part when viewed from the rear quarter, side's a bit iffy though.

It is a beauty. Those wheels look like 19".
Let this be a lesson to you and all others who buy dark coloured cars: your cars are magnets for swirls so wash and clean them very, very delicately.
