Tune for M235i?

Hello guys...

I was wondering as I might get an M235i soon what is the current panorama on the tune industry for this car? what sort of power we can get?

Any other mods that can be done? like the golf tee mod etc...

Thanks!
JC

Check Dinan 135 tune for N55 should be virtually identical.

i would think whatever is available for the M135i should be applicable, but the cars are too new I don't think people have tried yet!

being a N55 motor 360 hp is very doable unless BMW has made the ECU even harder to crack. Someone will figure that out though. I see this car having a very large aftermarket presence as it's price and performance will make it very popular. It may even eat into M4 sales. A few tweaks and you have a virtual M2.

So far it's all about bolt on mods, piggyback Ecu etc which isn't my ideal but people use it.

Why is piggyback not as desirable?

Just a personal thing. I like things done properly and don't really like the idea of a bolt on that effectively "tricks" the standard Ecu. Lots of people happy with them though

Hartge or AC Schnitzer looks fine, its same "black box" system with lot sensors and additional ECU waits until oil temp isn't in right number than increase power.

List of N55 tunes for M135i (for M235i we should expect same...)

Would be nice if Cobb could come up with something for it but seems like they haven't found how to break that N55 code yet...

Their solution through the ODBII is pretty neat

Not sure how much more TQ the gearbox can handle. Reading on here a while back the gearbox is set up to handle the max amount of TQ the car already provides.

Are you referring to Dinan? Or an actual M Performance tune? I don't believe I've heard of that.

They may not on this. Since this is basically a 235is, which is already their "tuned" version, I wouldn't hold my breath on an official bmw tune. If they did release one though, I'd get it.

I asked on the other site for Terry to respond if we can get Stage 2 without having to splice the CAN wires permanently or if there is a workaround so that it isn't visibly detectable that the car had an ECU tune on it.

I'd rather have Stage 2 over 1 but may have to go to Stage 1 if there is no workaround on visibly splicing into wires.
