The Love/Hate Relationship for No Front Plates
I love my car, and the beauty of my bumper (1M) and I refuse to drill holes cuz of state law. But what is it actually worth? Share your stories and experiences.
Ticket 1: Parking enforcement while parked at a friends house at a busy street Ticket 2: Parking enforcement while parked at a restaurant Ticket 3: Police Department not giving me a speeding ticket but a no front plate Ticket 4: Police Department. In front of my house...that one pissed me off Could have gotten a 5th ticket but cop was nice and let me slide Too many tickets and headache so I decided to buy a tow hook anchor instead of drilling holes...now just hoping they won't stop me for my tints |

its a hit or miss out here in LA, i didnt have a front plate for years and never got a ticket or even pulled over for not having one. you should get a mount that doesnt require holes in your bumper, for sure dont put holes in that bumper!

LA is tough on no front plates. Ive gotten manyyy tickets.... Finally Ive somewhat fixed the problem while still not having to have a front plate. Just put ur plate in ur front window when parking in an area you know your chances are high for no front plate ticket. For me thats Santa Monica or anywhere on Westside. I leave the plate under my seat and through it in the window while street parked and havent had a ticket since.

Hey man! I have the 1M also but this is what i usually do! If i were to street park in a city I've never been to I just put my tow hook plate on, the areas i travel in never gave me any trouble for no front plate while driving *knock on wood.* But if you street park I recommend putting the tow hook plate on!

I had the same problem as you - I live in LA and received 4 no front license plate parking tickets. I solved this problem but sticking the dealer sticker (temp license) on the lower right corner in my windshield.
Since I made this change - I don't get ticketed for only no front license plate only. But I did get a legit parking ticket and also got slapped the additional $25 no license plate penalty - gotta pay the steez tax. |

I had been driving for years without a front plate with no problems at all, until I moved to Culver City. The street I lived on had street sweeping two days a week, and most of the time, I would have street parking available to me. Parking enforcement drove by during the street sweep days and would issue tickets without a front plate without fail. I ended up buying some 3M double sided tape and slapped my plate back up.

LA sucks and they'll ticket you for anything they can. The law states that the plate needs to be clearly visible and I guess having it on your dash doesn't count. Been ticketed several times for this and have lost every time. If the officer deems it not to be clearly visible then his or her judgement prevails. I've also had it where I mounted my plated off to one side on an evo and was ticketed as it wasn't clearly visible by oncoming traffic, which was only true if they were within 10 ft of the vehicle.

I left my temp registration on the windshield and dealer plates on the back...haven't been stopped for no front plates for 2 years now, I run into cops almost on a daily basis.
