Lots of Tape on the car?

I have seen a couple people tape an entire section of their car and always wondered ....... What could that possibly be for

You mean the front of the car? With blue painter's tape?

That's usually for people taking long road trips and do not want any rock chips on the front.

I do my front bumper, front half of my hood, side mirror covers, and occasionally when my cars got fat wheels and tires a little over the wheel guards.

Green painters tape is the best, frogs is a good brand. It won't bake on like blue tape will.

I've always questioned exactly how much a layer or two of painters tape will really protect ones paint from a rock hitting at 60mph+??

I worry more about the tape in the baking sun melting and damaging the clear coat.
