Question Taking car into dealership

just scheduled an appointment to take my car to a dealership next week for a rattle noise diagnostics. I'm running cobb stage2+. Just wanna know if I should take my tune off before I take it in? What if I leave the tune on and they decide to do a software update? :O

We need to start making more Sticky threads for questions like this that come up 5X a day.

Remove it or assume the risk. Understand that if BMW wants to figure out if you’ve modified your car, they can do so.

They can find out if they send the logs to BMW of NA. The actual dealership is not going to go into the trouble of checking if the car has been flashed/tuned if it's been put back to stock at the time it's in service.

NIce. I'm guessing you put it back to stock as far as the tune? Did you take any of the other mods out? DP? IC CP?

Sweet. I haven't noticed any rattles from the turbos yet and haven't found any boost leaks so no new turbos for me yet.

Actually, this presents a good time to ask for the OP a question that's been burning in the back of my mind. What kind of driving is recommended to "break in" new turbos? Or does it matter?

I'm running cobb stg2+ with supporting mods. I only removed the tune and took it in.

as for the break in period for the new turbo, I'd give them maybe a couple of hundred KM (no tune and no redlining) before I start abusing them ...

In term of power I did not notice a difference but it's such a relief to not have to hear the awful rattling noise again.

So you left your downpipes in? They didn't care about the check engine light your car was throwing?
