yes. people can look up your plate and see where you live and steal stuff if not your whole car lol. You dont want your plates in racing videos either for legal purposes.
was this a real question? |

only if you doing something wrong breaking the law LOL
but on the other side, if you have $$$$$$ invested in some hidden options I would hide the plate, never know who is checking this web thing, for sure you don't want to wake up one day just to find out that your car is gone and then few days later to find out that it was stripped to the bones. Other than that, why? we drive it every day and showing it off to everyone |

yea i hear you. It can definitely happen at car meets and stuff. but people can just sit at home and go shopping online. ANd when i say shopping online, i mean they are shopping for other peoples cars lol
i would just cover the plate if posting pics |

Well let's just say this if somebody wants my e90 they've had plenty of time to steal it, videos from YouTube, meets, forums; local and international exposure. But she's still in my garage every night
.......for now lol

Sure people see your plate on the road and at meets but you must realize that WAY more people have the ability to see your plates on the interwebz. Your exposure online is far greater.

I've seen a few people on the forum criticize others for covering their plates in photos saying it's not a big deal and what not. I'd rather just cover my plates in pictures when posting on the internet.

Meh, I don't really care. My car is always parked in the garage and I have home security. But there's a sheriffs department like 1 1/2 miles away from me and they're always patrolling in my area so it'll be tough.

If someone really wanted to find the vicinity in which you lived it's really not that hard. Sure posting your license plate would make it very easy, but the fact your posting on an open forum doesn't make it very difficult to grab your IP address. Also not too mention phones geo tag photos.
So is it good practice to blur your license plate, sure, but there is always others ways if someone wants to find out bad enough. Last edited by BoostedE90; 03-05-2014 at 03:02 PM.. |

never saw the point... when i first started taking pics for people i would cover them just for their sake. then i realized no one cares. In pics the cars look cleaner without plates. but never cared for the security aspect of it unless you were trespassing and don't want people to catch you.

When I'm working, if the cars on track, in a show, part of a meet etc I won't remove, as the owner knows they're probably going to have photos taken.
Cars in the paddock/car park etc I blur. |
