Joining the catch can crew!

Well after an entire day of learning and breaking things I finally got the can in.
I'd like to thank Mark M , Doc, J and few for taking those initial steps.

Its not perty but it works, fully reversible when I purchase the part i broke Lol its the 4' flex pipe.

Great work. Looks good. How is the can mounted in that location? Appears that might save about 3 total feet of hose run from where I have mine back on the strut bar. Less hose run is a good thing.

Thanks for sharing.

Its not truly mounted yet. Its held down by gravity and back force from the tubing. I removed the switch box/breaker from its place and sat it to the side near the ballast for HIDs. Ill be fabbing up some brackets to use. Where the can is now was that switch box/breaker. id been eyeballing it for some time.

Removing the switch/breaker takes two black nuts leaving behind two welded or attached whats that word i guess screw point? I sat the can on the botton point, and leaned it against the top point. the hoses hold it in place.

Hi thanks for posting.

I'm looking to fit one to my euro 335d. I'm just a little lost.

Is it just a case of fitting those rubber pipes to what looks like a T peice?

What is item number 5 for?

Just wanting a brief idea how to install it and where to put the pipes. I have only had my 335D 3 month and just familiarising myself with it, I have looked under the engine cover.

I've fitted them on petrol cars, but also have a vent to atmosphere filter or dump to ground as you dont want a pressure build up IYKWIM - does the same apply for a diesel?

Thanks

I'd like to encourage you to keep an eye on this area in the pic. Looking at my setup it seems that how you have that routed could place you in danger of condensation pooling/collecting and/or freezing and obstructing ventillation. I've been using clear tubing with my setup at first to get a feel for what's going on in the system and how much moisture is present. It's more than you might expect if you use black hose and never look...

Thanks for the tip, I tried to keep everything as level as possible. Ill probably end up taking it apart at or around 500-1000 miles just to see how things are holding up. Not too worried about freeze since im in florida, and the heat should keep the oil, air in mist form until it hits the can. Ill update in about a weeks or two time since I drive that much lol

Item number five is the piece that connects the PCV vent hard line to the Air intake. Not sure how different euros are but you could send a few questions to doc as hes done a Euro spec 335d, refer to the links below to give you ideas. I'll probably attempt a DIY later down the road after looking at how this setup goes. Not sure how much of a problem pressure will cause seeing as how 2011d PCV pipes are ECU monitored if i recall. someone correct me if im wrong.

Looks great.
Can you tell us about the 90 degree elbows you used? Size, part #, website?
Assuming these are 90 degree PCV elbows generally sold at Auto Stores.

Thanks,

Thanks,
The ones I used were Help Item 47043. Google it. They are at just about all auto stores.

Used those same ones. Most autozones or advanced autos should have them.
