Exclamation HID flickering and blinking.... halogen to xenon :/

EDIT!! NEW DISCOVERY!!

Okay, ALL my connections are good. When the car engine is "OFF" , HID's hum like angels and work PERFECTLY.

When car engine is "ON" the HID's flicker and shut off...

I am running OSRAM ballast, not oem ones. and OSRAM bulbs D1s

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!

NEW ADVANCEMENTS!!!

ok me and E90 ANdy are working on a halogen to xenon mod for his car, and weve run into problems....

here is the set up:
OEM housings
Osram 4300K bulb
OSRAM but not e90 ballasts
14 AWG wire
and just ground into the chassis no shutter wire yet
snap connects
no signal bulbs in
heres what happens
1.just with power on, on either ON or AUTO teh Hids work fine since no shutter, didnt try the highs, there is no check low beam instead there is check turn signal warnings because no turn signals are in
2. Start car's engine on OFF then put it to ON or Auto Hids come on then blink then off....

anyone know why this is happening???? i know for some people who have problems, that usually when the car is on, the hids work but when engine is off the hids usually fail. why is it the opposite here??? anyone know why????

Shutter wires have been disconnected IN-case it has something to do with it. The HID's power up and run perfectly w/o the car on. With the car on, seems like it just takes a shit... PLEASE HELP!!

I think i may have found a solution!Seems like the e46 guys have stumbled on this problem before and are using capacitors to correct it. Hopefully its the same as the E90 canbus system.

HERE IS THE LINK... I will try this tomorrow
35volt 4700uF capacitors

Remember ballast need good clean power. This is why a relay harness is needed. A relay harness gets its power straight from the battery via relays.

same thing, if you have HID mean you have ballast.

Okay, just installed the capacitors, and the headlights DO NOT FLICKER ANYMORE Unfortunately i do have the "check right and left low beam" errors. sometimes it comes up every few minutes, other times it comes on once.. I do notice that after i use my highbeams ( to test my bi-xenon) it tends to come on.. Any ideas? Your info will greatly benifit the e90 non-xenon community

thanks in advance

the service light was only that one time after i kept messing around with it, and i kept getting sponaneous light errors (w/o signal bulbs and both bi-xenon wires) . I put in the signal bulbs and wired up both bi-xenon wires and the errors occured less frequently. The light error only came one side and like... once after 15mins. I didnt have it turned on longer to find out if it happened more. I'm guessing it has to do with the extra resistance of the signal bulbs as opposed to not having them there. Maybe i should go get a resistor and pop it on lol... question is.. which one do i need? What ohms?

Did you connect the shutter wire back up? That would make sense why you get an error after you use the highbeams.

Even with the OEM ballasts you can get this problem and the capacitors should work on them too. Jlevi is releasing a plug and play harness very soon. That might work, too.

ok.. Well I know the car seds test signals to see if all lights are working so i guess it would or could be sending one after you turn off the high beams. Try the plug and play harness from Jlevi. If it doesn't work I am sure they will give you a refund.

i had this problem during installation, its more complicated than you think. forget the resistor . you need to connect a harness and then connect a regular bulb to the harness, so it takes some electricity from the car and doesnt show a "broken light signal" . the only bad thing about this is that i have 4 bulbs under the hood and they get heated up ( which can cause to melt something ) any better ideas are welcome

hmm... i wonder if there are any 27watt fans @ 12volts.. That way i can cool off my ballast rather than having extra lights inside my bumper.
