JB4/FFTEC 60-130 AT Record set at 6.605s

Looks like the ante has been upped and from the sound of it there is a lot more in this car.

Details:
"Mods are the JB4 (with special ST firmware & flash), FFTEC 5862 top mount kit, BMS methanol injection, and various other bolt on parts.

The car is in daily driver trim. E30 fuel, 245/45 drag radials (lowered tire pressure to 24psi), seats out but no major weight reduction effort yet, and the quiet OEM 2.75" muffler (cut out closed). For good measure the boost was raised from 20psi to 22psi.

With straight race gas running 25psi, 100# removed from the car, and going up to a -2% slope, I see faster times ahead."

Looks like you have done it again Terry!!! Logs look perfect... How is the motor handling it or is it behaving quite normally. I remember you saying anything over 550whp the N54's have piston problems?

Garage List
2007 BMW  [7.00]

"Notes:
1) Was not going after any power records so left the tuning very conservative all around. At the same boost levels there is easily another 15hp in this setup with more advance. And no reason this turbo can't be cranked up to 28psi when the trans is ready.
2) It made a lot more power than I was expecting. It's basically on pace with the 6466 at these lower boost levels only with much better spool.
3) If the trans would shift this car would be seriously quick. I'll get to work on that ASAP."

im guessing the auto trans is having some trouble.

Ummmmm....... Where are you getting this? All things considered, 550 WHP isn't that difficult on this platform anymore, especially when there are two options capable of putting down over 700 WHP: ST-N54s with the Twin Scroll 6466 and Vargas S3s with twin 63Rs.

As long as EGTs are consistent and the tuns is good, the physical components have shown they can hold together well above 550. Eventually we will hit an OEM component threshold, but as of right now it the OEM motor has proven it's still solid.

More importantly, this setup (not the largest ST option) has gone faster than every stock motor E9x supercharged setup recorded on M3P.

Ya, I don't think that guy actually has an M3. Never seen someone sidestep so many questions about a vehicle in my entire life.

Pretty sure that car is still on jack stands.... The ironic problem is the motor is 100% done, healthy and ready to go. The DCT (and owner) is what's killing that project

I really hope the 6AT holds the numbers at 21-22PSI or so, that would be so nice on the highway.

This car is going to be FAST. But the Gintani M3 will walk away from it once it's back 100%.

Is Joseph going TT? Either way the YSI S65s are too much for any N54s I can think of right now. Powerband+DCT are too much. What we need is a stupid fast AT car, or maybe the N55 proves it can eat tons of power and fuel better who knows (I doubt it). Terry's 1er sounds absolutely perfect and would be exactly what I would want for a DD, but for absolute WR stuff you need more power. I'd love to see what a 6466+a wet shot could do

The big thing the 6AT N54s have to watch for is TQ, that's what's gonna fry the trans, trigger fault codes, etc. AFAIK it's got the YSI setup & adding insult to injury, there's an 6MT E92 M3 in the tri-state area running the same Gintani YSI setup, except it's a 4.5L Stroker. It's finishing its break in, but it'll def hauls ass and have a lot better TQ.

Personally, after dealing with the N54 I'm 100% done with Direct Injection until more reliable high HP fueling solutions are developed and will only look at platforms with 6MTs. Even with the GTRs and TT-Lambos, the trans upgrades are $10-15k and even they break after some regular abuse.

I agree it’s been a frustrating go on the fueling side. It’s not so much DI per se as it is the nature of our high pressure side, it’s a bit unusual. VAG guys have no problems with fueling, at least I don’t think they do (I plead relative ignorance to those platforms).

Problem is no one seems to be making much progress on standalone port, so direct port meth is probably the best we’ll get for a while.

Lol yea a YSI stroked S65 will get so angry up top and make gobs of torque, it is what it is. Even if we magically had proefi or some dedicated controller and standalone port, the powerband would be so short compared to an S65.

I'm personally fine with a stroked ysi s65 beating the day lights outta my car. Hell, for all that money, it damn well better!

For the most part, no, the VAG guys don't have a lot of issues with their DI setups. I look forward to the day that we have the upgrades they do to be available.

If I get beaten by a YSI stroked S65 I won't be surprised. With the money that is involved in that I will take the loss and just laugh.
