i3 seen for first time

Hi there

Just saw the i3 for the first time live on the street.

Didn't like it on the pictures. Live it was pretty "science fiction". Looked good

I've driven one. It's bigger than you might think. It looks just as hideous in person as it does in photos. The interior is nice. The acceleration is very impressive. It drives fairly 'gokart' like. I had an R50 MINI and I'd say the driving characteristics are more like that car than any BMW I've driven, only you can tell it is most definitely RWD. I suspect we in the US will start seeing them on the roads any day now.

It is definitely much, much bigger than an iQ or a smart car.

I think it appears large due to it's height. It is nearly 15 inches shorter than my 135i and is only 5.5 inches longer than a Mini Cooper S. I drove one at a test day in San Mateo and found it to be fun to drive. The steering feel was nicely weighted with quick turn in. Acceleration was addictive as it is very quick off the line and pulls well even uphill on the freeway.

Inside it has truly generous amounts of space. I am 6'2" and with the driving position set for me there was comfortable space for me in the rear seat behind the driver. I really like the inside design.

Given it's very compact format and super city driving characteristics I find it tempting. That said I am not sure if I can cope with the range issue.

People, if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it! But, it functions as intended, and for some people, the function it performs is all they need or want. No comments about your wife, or girlfriend...everyone has their own view of what is beautiful!
