BMW CBS is a pure CON !!
Hi there guys,
Just wanted to ask any of your E9X's conditional base servicing readings go down quick ? I had the darn thing serviced ( oil change ) at 14,300 miles Looked at the Engine oil thing on iDrive it said next oil change in 15,000 Checked it today at 16,700 miles 4 months later...... 7,000 miles before it needs another oil change ??? Is something wrong ?? It's dropped nearly by half !? And I'm shafted ATM with the whole BMW warrenty so I'll have to pay £280 for another pop Change Is this normal or is there something wrong with mine ?.... Ps do a fair bit of town driving roughly 500 miles a month with occasional a roads |

Town driving and cold weather (puts more strain on engine components and the oil)
You'll only likely get 15000 if you do motorway miles |

You can always reset the indicator yourself.

This has been covered somewhere else as how it calculates the service interval for oil service. Its not CON, so your thread is misleading.

You might not THINK it's a con, I don't like paying money for something Iv never experienced before ( oil change every 6,000-7,000 on a diesel ) Asking questions, and having my own opinion is allowed !! I'm not misleading anyone, iv clearly stated "Is this normal or is there something wrong with mine ?". So please get you're facts right before accusing |

I thought you accused BMW for making a CON system or at least the title of your thread gives that impression. Starting a thread for seeking opinion is different than posting ..... I would suggest you to search, read and then make your opinion on what is what. Once you do the proper search, your opinion may change. Enough said. PS: You will be v happy in VWs or Audi where engine sludge is common as oil service intervals are 20K.

See berry Heathrow as I got my oil change with micro filter (330d) changed on Friday for £188 inc vat!
Problem was... when I dropped the car & they checked the key.... the fuel & ain't filter needed changing as well = £350 extra..... I told them where to go on that! |

Not a con mate, sounds about right for your useage.
You can get the oil changed where you like. No need to go to BMW for that, warranty can't be affected, that's the law. Your mileage is very low, sounds like lots of short journeys which will reduce the oil life a lot. It's 2 years max between changes anyway regardless of mileage, so you'll barely have done 10k by then anyway. Last edited by doughboy; 02-02-2014 at 03:58 PM.. |
