Idiot taxi drivers

I'm driving home with my 2 children and a taxi driver decides to cut me up to the point that my hazards came on a slammed on that hard. He then cuts up someone else and drives off. Part of me wanted to chase after and and kick the crap out of him at the next opportunity. Kids in the car stopped this but now I'm annoyed I didn't have a camera in the car to pass to the police. Anyone got a dash or rear view mirror camera for such incidents?

I'm still fuming 30 minutes later!!

Wouldn't bother me as much if kids weren't in the car but how dare he put them in danger.

Did you get his badge number?

If so report him or if you know what firm, phone the owner.

Rang the firm. They weren't bothered which added to my fury! Calmer now though with help from Stella my Belgium friend.

Thinking of getting a blackvue camera for this exact reason, i know a few of the guys here have them. Also looking at Mi witness too...
You never know esp. with all the crash for cash crap as well.
Hope you feel better soon

Definitely getting a camera as this isn't the first time some idiot as been asking for a slap. Passing video footage to the police is apparently better than beating them up. So my missus says anyway. I'll do as I'm told. Older and wiser now!

That's why I've got front and rear cameras, you could of reported them to the police with the footage

Its at times like that I would follow him home, get my imaginary baseball bat out of the boot and beat him senseless with it. In reality I sit there grinding my teeth while he dissappears off leaving chaos behind him!

There seems to be two pieces of legislation covering roads. The Road Traffic Act which covers most people and the Road Traffic Act according to taxi drivers. Apparently they are quite different. They think they can drive how they want but if they think you've wronged them hell hath no fury like a taxi driver slighted!

I've always thought High Beam Assist should have a Taxi Driver Assist function within it. The camera will recognise taxis and instead of moving the beam out the way of them, points the high beam directly at the driver and their mirrors. Not that they use them.

I also believe BMW should develop Overtaking Truck Driver Assist to follow the same blinding principle.

I have a BlackBox camera......at home. I used to have it attached to my windscreen, but got annoyed with power cable across up to the top of the windscreen, I was connecting and disconnecting it all the time - did not want to leave it visible as a potential risk for having a break into a car. It works very well with different fps. It records in loop mode on SD card, 4gb was enough for couple of hours of constant recording in the best quality. It has acceleration /deceleration sensor which protects a part of recording when activated. Sensitivity can be adjusted. I bought it 2-3 years ago, so maybe newer models are better, smaller etc...

Ideally if the car recognises a taxi and lighting system reacts.

The next thing should be car voice system announcing " target locked " "fox 3" ( if you have radar cruise of course, failing that it should be "guns guns"

Rather satisfying me thinks

Trucks would likely need one or two Brimstone.

a good summary of what to look for in car cameras here - http://www.techmoan.com/guide-to-dashcams/
I bought the Mini 0801 linked here from Amazon for ~£70 and i'm very impressed with it -

I'm getting one of these, or maybe a Mobius. But what I wanted to say was this guy Techmoan's vids are brilliant. Clear, concise, factual, objective and just plain quality. Add to that his accent and laid back style and I watch reviews of his for things I'm not even interested in.

I sound a bit weird now don't I

Anyway Re: the OP's situation. You have my sympathy, I was coming down the M40 late last night in the pouring rain and I was cut up at "motorway speeds" buy a taxi. Couldn't see the reg for spray and mist etc but that was definitely in the near-miss category.

Keep calm, just be thankful what might have happened, didn't.

I can imagine the Sat-Nav woman now - "Taxi Locked. Engaging."

"At the roundabout, take the second turning."

"Target destroyed."

Gives a whole new meaning to 'Dynamic Guidance'
