That configurator is terrible. Can't wait till BMWUSA puts up these two cars.

The BMW UK website is done with Java Server Faces or IceFaces. The BMW USA website is done in Microsoft .NET. Both of them are completely terrible and barely show the cars.

My friend led the Audi/Porsche website projects with very little input from Germany. Here is the result (you can see the f***ing car):

I think the Porsche 3d visualiser is the best thus far, very good and every little detail gets added to the cars, you tick a feature you see the button amongst a lot of buttons!)

Right, and it covers EVERYTHING, like adding exterior color to AC Vents or whatever dumb thing I tick off.

yeah I was hopping they would show the pricing of options. but was weird when I converted the euro to USD currency and it said the m3 here is 77k STARTing I am sure that is wrong.

Porsche and Audi are like sister companies since VW owns them. so make sense why audi and Porsche are the best in the website. but bmw website always lags a bunch. but overall I think on building your bmw on the website is the easiest besides audi. and bmw did show the options but no pricing

Well the pricing information is helpful, but raises a strange issue. The price difference between the M3 and the M4 is very slight (less than 500 pounds) but the price difference between a 3 series and 4 series is much larger (more than 3000 pounds). If you take the ratio between the markup of a base 3/435i Msport to a M3/4 and apply it to US prices, you can get an estimate of what US M3/4 pricing may be. However, the M3 ends up being more expensive (since the ratio on the UK M3/UK 335 is larger), which can't be right. But my guess would be that the US pricing will be similar to below...

Base UK M4: 56,635
Base UK 435i Msport - 43,155 (Sport Auto Transmission since this is what US 435i's have)

Base US 435i MSport - 49,100

Therefore (56,636/43,155)*49,100 = $64,436!!!

Base UK M3 - 56,175
Base UK 335i MSport - 39,750 (Sport Auto Transmission since this is what US 335i's have)

Base US 335i Msport - 46,500

Therefore (56,175/39,750)*46,500 = 65,714!!!

My guess is that US prices will be be close to these. Keep in mind that M3/M4 will have more standard features than the E92 M3 so the markup isn't that terrible.

Just something to think about...

You can't do the straight conversion because BMW doesn't do US pricing that way. For example, a base 435i Msport AT is 43,155 pounds. If you convert that, the USD amount is $70865. We all know that a US 435i Msport AT is $49100 so clearly it's not the direct conversion.

See my post above for my theory on pricing...

Yeah, and you know how much you pay for that button! Porsche is unmatched in the option game.

I knew something was wrong there haha. But thank you, your estimates make perfect sense. I was thinking it would be around 66000usd based on the difference on the conversion on the m5 where it said 77000 pounds and converted it to USD and showed 101k so I deducted 9k which would be 92k and that's the starting price on the m5 in the states. like the m3 it says it should be 77k for the US, I deducted 9k and that equals 66k. but your estimate is very accurate Thanks man .

agree, it becomes so much options where you just give up and don't care because it becomes too detail.

If you compare US and UK prices, you will see that US is about 71-76% of the UK. Using this calculation $66k sounds about right.

that's crazy, that should be standard specially in the U.S since some states you cannot use the cell phone unless its hands free.
