M3........something for the weekend?

Maybe in with the chance of driving the new M3 for a full day or even possibly a weekend in exchange for four free rounds of golf. The demo M3 is pretty booked up at the moment but the DP is a keen golfer

Problem is, if you drive it, will you then want one 'cos' it's so good or do you say sod it, drive it anyway and put up with the 'oil burner' (Hi Carlos)

What would you do boys?

Make sure it's on the day of the next meet/dyno day and get down there!

Seriously... if you're letting them have all these free rounds of golf anyway, make sure it's for a weekend and get out and enjoy it.

Hi Helen, i have been promised a drive in the Audi R8 myself, and i know ill want to continue driving it home and not back to the dealers lol. Still to drive the new m3, if it drives anything like the E46 M3 CSL then it will be a cracker!

Hmmmmm, reckon you could probably add at least £50 to that. Probably better to use the diesel to trailer it down.

Matt.

Do you like the advert for the R8 - would have thought they could have come up with something a bit more dynamic. Looks very nice though!

Sorry Matt (got the first letter right).

Wonder if Carlos will bite about using the diesel to trailer it.

Beemerbird, I drove the dealer demo a few weeks back. I certainly didnt have it for a full day, but wish I could have! It was absolutely awesome in every respect: looks, sound and drive. If money was absolutely no object it would be high on the list for the next car for me. However, reality is that it is not an 'everyday' proposition, not just because of the cost to buy it, but the running costs. I know I would be tempted to rev it to 7K on a regular basis and I suspect the outcome would be diabolical fuel economy! I have to say the 335d is a pefect combination of performance and economy, so it wins for me.

I say go and enjoy the test drive, get it 'out of your system' so to speak then go back to the 335d, which is probably the best BMW on the market today!

Hello Pete, have heard it running when I picked mine up. John (Sales Manager) was like a kid with a new toy! He said "I've got something to show you in the back Helen" I replied "no thanks John, I'd rather drive my new car." After that bit of fun we went through to the back & they had an old M3 they'd just polished & valeted and the new one next to it. John said lets hear it running, so got the keys and yes it sounded lovely. The launch was the weekend I was going to France so I missed that. I think I will take up the offer to drive it though, I'm level headed enough just to enjoy having a go in it & I do love my 335d. As you say it is not a viable financial proposition, I couldn't afford to buy it never mind the running costs....having said that though if I sell the house....

Defo drive it - its an awesome car. I drove one a dew weeks ago and it put a proper smile on your face let me tell you!

The daily driver did feel slow by comparsion when I got in it the following day tho

Also managed a go in the M5 touring last weekend - 400HP and an extra 100hp when you press the M button - all I can say is WOW!

The seat bolsters push you around and the heads up display is like a fighter plane! See if the dealer has one of these in - even better fun than the M3 (5 litre 507hp V10!!!)
