Alpine white or Mineral white
As much as I like Estoril Blue, since an M sport is out of my price range, can't have that colour. I do like the white and question is which White would look better on a sport line F30? I haven't seen a mineral white car. What is the difference between the two? Pictures I've seen look mixed some are really nice whilst in others it almost looks silver.

Alpine white is ok, but it's non-metallic, so if you like to keep a car nicely washed and polished (like I do) then it never quite rewards your efforts, being easy to make look flat and dirty. Actually I am talking crap here as there are plenty solid paints that reward a good polish... maybe it's just a white one that doesn't. Or maybe it's just that metallic still looks good when dirty. I had AW on an E90 and liked it though, especially at night.
I quite like the Mineral white, and had it still been available on MSPorts then we would probably have gone with it. It's a metallic paint and has a kind of 'glow' about it. Certainly looks a bit more sophisticated than AW does. Will look better when dirty too. |

I had a Mineral white M3 and Alpine white F31 for over a year at the same time. So had plenty of chance to compare them.
Mineral white is far nicer, no question... I just didn't have the time to wait for an individual order to get M Sport + mineral white otherwise my F31 would have been. Have photos if need any more help. Mat

Mineral White all the way.
Much nicer than a flat colour and has a nice pop to it in the sunlight when clean and polished. |

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454122 I have AW, it is very bright/shiny when it's waxed up (which I do a lot) so it certainly stands out anyway.

AW or MW, if you're not accustom to a light color car, you'll want to prepare yourself for the extra cleaning you'll likely be doing to remove the kicked up road dust (iron particles).
Trust me and get yourself some Auto Finesse Iron Out. You'll thank me later. Lucky for your UK peeps, its made there!

Thanks for the comments everyone. Keep them coming. I especially enjoyed the comparison pics in the link provided by d4springer.
It seems Mineral white is the winner so far. My only hesitation is do you think it looks like silver? |

MW is not really white with metallic flakes, it's a slightly darker "pearly" colour (hence you think it maybe looks a bit silver), I saw one in the local dealer (7 series I think) and it was nice but was toned down compared to AW.
The AW is a very bright colour, I would say it's more sportier looking and would be great on the sport line. I think the MW would give the sport line more of a luxury understated look, but maybe that's what your wanting? It will ultimately be a case of what you like and I would suggest you try and find one in person, they always look different close up.

MW is a great colour, I love mine. It does some really nice things under artificial light - really brings out the pearl effect.
