Anyone found a nice 335d exhaust coversion?
I like the idea of changing the exhaust to look as the 335d did before with twin separated exhaust pipes.
I found this on the AC Schnitzer website: http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/dual-...rom-3900-p.asp Wasn't sure of the looks at first, but growing on me. It's expensive though! Anyone else seen any? |

It's £2200 and includes the new section for the body work to save cutting your existing one. Still expensive though I agree!
Haven't found any others though. |

And interestingly the Alpina D3 has an Akrapovic exhaust, yet when you look on the Akrapovic website they don't do any diesel BMW exhausts!

I recently priced a 335i backbox along with the rear diffuser, some mount at the other side and two exhaust tail-pieces.
I was told there is a 5mm different in pipe sizes from the 335i to 335D. Cant see that being much of an issue. An adapter should be handy enough to source. It was working out at £750+ for all the bits. Not including an adapter for the 5mm difference This is for the M-sport. All that needs changed is the diffuser at the rear. Probably a bumper change for SE etc |

Are petrol exhaust systems not different to diesels? I'm no mechanic obviously but doesn't the back box provide some sort of back pressure which effects the engine, I would imagine if you stuck the back box from a petrol engine onto a diesel it may have negative effects on it, correct me if I'm wrong though.

I've seen on where the owner bought the diffuser panel of a 335i and then went to his local custom exhaust place to cut the current outlet off and make one up which had two exits, it looked identical to a 335i.
Total cost was £350.

I wouldn't do something that was a fake like this suggestion. The AC Schnitzer one is a grower. First thought was a definite no too, but it's a bit different. Not trying to be an M3, or going Oval like the Alpina, but slightly more interesting than the normal 335i.

It would be made of the same material and constructed in the same manner as any oem or Schnitzer exhaust! |

So it's just an extra pipe out of a shared back box? So it's purely cosmetic, but I accept not fake as such. The systems produced by an established exhaust maker would hopefully realise some (albeit small) benefits in noise and performance, as well as looking good!

Im just wondering how the pipes are routed. I believe the 335D has two pipes coming out of the backbox.
Do you mean just to cut both off. Re-route one to the other side and one out the existing side to suit the 335i cutouts? I havnt got the car yet, so not to sure of what space there would be to do this. |

Ok i wasn't expecting that i thought you just wanted the look. If you've got £2000 to burn then maybe schnitzer exhaust is for you, |

I can't see myself paying 2k for one though. I will follow this idea of a £350 conversion with an open mind though... |
