Coding DAB Radio

Hello Guys,

I wonder if someone who codes and has DAB would mind looking at a few settings for me. I'm trying to see if I can code DAB to work on my car.

In the NBT HU module, 3002 Audio_tuner there are three separate settings I can see for DAB.

They are Radio_dab, Dab_standard and Radio_dab_varianten.

Would someone please have a look at these in their car for me and tell the what the Werte value is for each.

Thanks.

Does your NBT have the two DAB inputs on the back? Mine doesn't and very few of the units on eBay do.

Isn't DAB a hardware controlled option?

I have been told we get them as part of the HU in ours mate and I am not going to pull the thing apart just to confirm.

All I am asking for is the three werte values and I will see if it works, if it doesn't nothing is lost.

Thanks anyway.

From your targeted question I guess you have identified all the parameters you want to look at? Only reason for asking is that I looked up the were values this morning and there are a number of other DAB entries I noticed - photos included below.

Anyway, werte blaues as requested:

RADIO_DAB:
Avtive
Werte=01

DAB_STANDARD:
dmb_audio
Werte=02

RADIO_DAB_VARIANTEN:
double_tuner_double_hw
Werte=02

This is from my September build NBT with itouch

I have just coded the car as per the same settings as Mark and unfortunately I didn't work.

Unfortunately it seems as though DAB is not in the HU as I was told?

Thanks again Mark.

Just a thought - have you VO coded DAB first?

If the DAB unit is in the HU after all but not activated, you'll need to have DAB added to the VO (DAB is 654 I believe).

I tried to VO code that yesterday and it wouldn't take so I was just trying to see if I could just FDL code it. Thanks for the thought though.

Interesting. My post disappeared. Looks like you replied to yourself

If DAB was on your NBT as standard then I can't imagine BMW turning it off as standard. Can you add it as an option at order time? If you can, then it is possible it is already wired up.

It is very, very easy to get to the back of the NBT to check and won't void any warranty. Takes me less than 5 minutes to pull the NBT out of my car and just requires a T20 to remove 8 screws.

Not concerned about warranty mate, just cant be shagged.

I've tried to VO code it in and it didn't work so the hardware mustn't be there.

Yes, it is an option out here. I had it in my last one.

Really does take no effort at all. If it's an option then I can't see them doing two different NBT units for one country so the hardware could be there.

The thread in the DIY section gives the instructions to remove it if you get interested.

There's a very short thread here where someone has coded but it's not working potentially due to antenna wiring.

What I wondering is whether there is a different VO code for the NBT DAB - I can recheck my VO code for the numbers just in case it's different.

Yep the wrong option code would cause the VO of the NBT to fail, which is exactly what I got here:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showth...=921688&page=7

When I removed 654 in my case, which wasn't on the radio, the VO coding then worked.

What you should do is check the vin decoder for cars around you VIN going to the same country but with DAB and see what the option code is. Either that or just take a look at the back of the radio.

Thanks Mark, would you mind having a look at the code for me.

I know it was 654 on my old car but that was with a CIC HU.

Hmmm, not great news as I do have 654 in my FA. I've sent you a PM with a link to my email address - drop me a message and I'll send you my FA for you to compare with...

Sorry to drag this up again but i have been reading the forum for a while and decided it was time to attempt a retrofit.
I ended up buying the wrong HU first time, it was the cic professional with 8.8" screen and i didn't have a comm box so found i couldn't use it. i decided to buy the hu_Entrynav as i found one going cheap and it had dab which i wanted.
the issue i have nis that i can't get the dab working, i changed the modulator to one which had dab output and wired to front of car. i did the vo coding and it just shows no signal.
Have i missed anything out.
