Did you know ....?

Did you know that the folded mirrors unfold automatically at speeds over 20 mph if you forget to unfold them?

I've never tried it but can you re-fold them after you've passed the 20/25mph threshold? A project for tomorrow perhaps...

Not tried on the F31, but you can't on an E90 or E89 so my guess would be no

Shame. I thought it might improve my drag times

Will double check tomorrow and report back if successful.

Found this out on a test car. Reason I've not opted for it as I've said elsewhere on here. Lots of miles on rural single-1.5x track lanes means being able to drive along with them in is very handy. Though someone else did suggest a bit of coding could get this 'corrected'.

Your logic here isn't that well thought through... Now you can't fold them in at all whilst driving!

On a tight road where you're squeezing by slowly then you just press the button and in they fold... Car goes past and you pop them back out, so still handy in the situation you describe. If I'm worried about my wing mirrors I'm certainly going slow enough to fold them.

That's why I specified folding mirrors - too many narrow country lanes where I live!

They did the same on the e9x also.. My issue with the BMW's mirrors is once you're above 5/10mph you can't fold them?! What about on those narrow side roads when you're half way and decided to fold them?

My wife has a c class and on her car, the mirrors fold at speed below 30, so 29 okay!

One day BMW will catch up.

You've missed one vital point, we all know tight gaps are easier to get through when taken fast

I can fold mine at any speed, even on the motorway.

Coding can be done to change auto unfold speed also.

I'll add it to my coding wish list!

Would you be up for coding anyone else's car?

I can also fold mine at any speed.
So, unfolds at 25 mph, manual folding possible at any speed. Win, win.

Sounds like we need coder out there! BMW could make life easier and be less pain. Have it all on the iDrive system for us to program.. Piece of cake for them. They can get out of responsibilities by inserting a disclaimer..

As with most other people I guess, lack of time is my only issue. But in principle yes, I'd be happy to help.
