I need a hug...
Company policy is not to discuss work related things on the forum so I'll spare you the gory detail but my car was parked at the office when the other guy reversed into it. He drove off, then returned to discuss the matter 20 mins later as "requested". Long story but he's admitted blame so the insurance side is OK.
I'm downright devastated. I know it's filthy dirty, but believe me under this week's 500 miles worth of road grime, that paint is un-swirled and showroom fresh. 21st Dec 2013 - Picked up my pride & joy 23rd Jan 2014 - It became tainted, soiled, tarnished and just plain spoiled. Yes it'll be repaired professionally but... not the same is it.

Never nice to see a car "hurt". On the plus side, with it only being the bumper and nose it should all just unbolt and new painted parts fitted on.

Yeah that sucks! I'm getting the same feeling on my car that I've only had 10 days after finding scratches all over the paint from where they cleaned it from new, had a new wheel fitted already and I need to phone the sales manager tomorrow to try and get him to fix the scratches inside and out, it feels second hand already after 200 miles

Hope you get it sorted as soon as possible.
The other guy should be forced to drive a Reliant Regal with online entertainment set to "Crazy Frog" on repeat. Forever.

I honestly feel your pain man, a year on and I'm still anal about my my car. But it's still the best possible part to get damage on, easy to replace and respray it might end up being better then before. I had my front bumper resprayed under warranty after six months due to slight imperfection in the paint work and the new one seems to be more resistant(more base/clear coat perhaps) to chips then the original. Will get fixed and just enjoy your beast

Thanks for the sympathy guys, much appreciated.
Directline were slick and organised. They outsource the loan car bit to Quindell who were equally so - they called within a few hours. UK Assistance will call in the morning regarding the repair. So far so good...

Nightmare mate but dont let it spoil your love of the new car. Get it repaired at the garage of your choice and forget it ever happened. Its minor cosmetics and never going to impact on the performance or handling of the car. A couple of days in the hands of the professionals and it will be as new again.
PS I would have wanted to throttle the person that did it if it was mine. |

When my car needed repair work the BMW bodyshop did a brilliant job and the car looked like new (better than before).
The damage looks light so as long as they can match the paint you will be fine (probably end up with a better paint job). Quote:
NOTE: BMW approved bodyshops give a 3 year warranty on any work, so if the paint has issues after a year or so they will re-paint under warranty |

If it makes you feel any better. This happened tail end of last September.
Good as new now. Tracking is a bit off and they didnt reset the brake pad service circuit, but I'll get that done at the next service in about a months time. Lol, if anything I didnt have to keep thinking about the stone chips I had on the bonet before the accident. At least you can keep driving your car until they get the part. Mine was in the bodyshop for 3 months. Back order on pretty much every major part. Front bumper was the longest wait.

The Fact here is you were a 'non fault customer', and from experience, you will be treated like royalty.
If I was you, I would have taken the car direct to BMW, they would arrange everything, without involving your own insurance. They would use a Hire company, like Accident Exchange, who would probably give you a 6 series (like they did with me) Whichever way you look it, it won't cost you a thing and everyone will be running around to please you sir purple! |

I played this by the book (even declining to settle for cash - cheek!) and then simply called Directline who took it from there. If I did what you suggest, how would it work, I mean, what's my insurance claim got to do with my BMW Dealer?

What happens in your case is, you take the car direct to BMW, their body shop department. They will verify that, your work colleague has accepted liability for the accident, then they take it all from there.. They will get your car collected, and arrange for a decent, car to be delivered, to your door, and handle the claim fully. They will bill the at fault party's insurance company for all the costs involved, car repair and car hire. They will not contact your insurance company, nor will request an excess from you... Almost any body shop do that, because they know they can charge extra. Have a word with your local dealer, if you want, then you would know for definite your car will be repaired at BMW. Good luck |

Sorry to see that.
I know it's hard not to, but don't worry BMW (who you must only take it to), will fix that and you won't even know. 2 years ago, I collected my M3 with 3 miles on the clock only to find the carbon M performance parts from and back hadn't been glued on properly. The front was completely replaced and the rear had to be stripped off and resprayed. Nearly rejected the car. I collected it with a paint / detailer specialist (without telling BMW), and he said it was A1 paintwork. Now what I do know, if they replace any parts they can order them from the factory in your colour / pre-painted. And as your car is so new the colour will match no problems. But as others have said, don't let that car go anywhere else but BMW. Good luck! Mat
