What do i need to get my iphone working through idrive? Do i have to buy the bmw genuine y cable and adaptor? I was told by the salesman that any old cable would work. Just says not supported. Not happy

Apple white Lighning cable with Pro-Media or anything with EBT

Just a genuine apple cable will suffice...not a cheap-o one from fleabay.

The cable with my phone doesnt work it just says not supported.

Thanks pedro, not hugely helpful. Its one of the most popular phones in the country so I expected it to be supported.

No its an f30. 2013 build. Only standard stereo though.

If so, you need the Y Cable. I educated my dealer in this regard...

Nope no nav couldnt afford one with nav thats very disappointing. And ill need the adapter from 30pin to lightning as well then.

Yep, iPhone 5 with its Lightning connector has no analog audio out. You need this. So, apple built a DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) into the Lightning to 30 pin connector. I'd get a genuine Apple one to be sure. If you get the one with the lightning bit on a lead you can use more cases and also get a Brodit mount that works. iPhone Nav...

I ordered EBT to get round this. My E90 has no USB, but I use a Griffen Auto Pilot and the above adaptor.

I'm sure another member will confirm the F30 with a Y Cable, adaptor and iPhone 5.

I am pretty sure you can use an ebay 30 pin y cable, but the 30 pin to lightning adapter needs to be a genuine Apple one, or, not quite as ideal as it has a 3.5mm jack as well as the lightning jack but should work:
