T Minus 13hrs....

Seems hard to believe after so long, but tomorrow I hand back the fantastic 320GT loaner and drive away in my F31 330D! Will I sleep tonight? Not much....

And who says adults don't get excited like kids at Christmas!

Will be interested to hear your comparison of the tourer v the GT... had the 330d or 335d version been available when I ordered then we may have considered it further.

Not a chance of you sleeping tonight. I have almost the same car on order and it's looking like end of March delivery. I'm already like a kid on Christmas Eve at the thought of getting it and that's with 8 weeks to go.
I want LOTS of pics tomorrow!!

Never again lets just say. I asked them 'Is the car damaged in any way, deep scratches?' etc. etc.

'No it is fine sir, it is a BMW approved car don't worry about that'

When I got there within 1 mins I noticed a deep scratch on the boot lid, one on the bonnet, wing mirror cover damaged and then we found a scrape on the rear wheel arch, which to be honest looked like it had just been done by another car.

I made a complaint and they pulled off the smart repair guy to machine out the scratches, agreed to have the car repaired in Glasgow.

I got no follow up call, which I got from Honda FFS and that was a damn sight cheaper and I just felt they wanted me out the door asap.
I wasn't overly happy if I am honest mate.

Yeh sounds about right. They've got a fairly dismal reputation around here.

I approached them initially looking for a PCH. They took all my details over the phone and promised me a call back the next day. Of course they never. The following day I was driving past so called in. The sales manager greeted me and asked me if he could help. I gave him a fairly sardonic reply along the lines of I doubt it as none of his other staff could be arsed. Told him what had happened and he summoned the guy I'd been dealing with previously.

I got an embarrassing lament about how he'd been trying to get hold of me both at my office and on mobile, clearly absolute bullshit as all my missed calls are logged on our PBX and no missed calls on my mobile. Told him as much and asked him if he'd found me a deal to which he replied yes. He went off to get the details which were supposedly on his desk. About 10 mins later he returned with figures that were literally hundreds of pounds more PER MONTH than the deal I'd already told him about.

In the end I just told him my time was too valuable to be wasted on this and walked out. I then complained to BMW UK who basically replied that as Stratstone were a franchise, they are powerless to act. What's the point?

Sounds about right, upon my initial call the Sales guy Danny was very nice but it deteriorated from there, he did have some personal issues which he explained but the whole experience from start to finish was terrible.
I was going to complain but anticipated the reply from BMW.

Lesson learned, just wont be using them again. Will pay the extra to use a local dealer.

Lad. I did the same for my F30. Take the day off. Then please come back here and tell me how great the engine is. I have one on order but have never driven it.

Which one would you choose? One of the local dealers in Glasgow area was not quite professional to me, neither transparent enough. Quite rigid in negotiations and always above BMW quote , explaining it with extra protection service and maintanace added etc. but it was not quite true. No correct answers to my question about spec of car - had to discover everything myself. I'm not 100% happy, did not do my homework before order, now it would cost me.
TBH, Audi dealer is way way ahead building customer relations, professionalism, and competency. It was a pleasure to deal with them..... But BMW does better cars IMHO.

Here is the tricky one. Harry Fairbairn has given me superb service in dealing with servicing or any car issues, however I suspect this is the one who are being rigid with you? As I have heard that. They do seem more expensive than Dougie Park.

To buy a BMW I would use Douglas Park, they seem to negotiate better in the long run I have found both with my BMW E90 and my Honda but I would never ever use them for service and it is shocking, heard a fair few stories of recent that made mybtoes curl.

The Audi garages do seem to be a bit better of recent, I know someone who went into the one at Braehead and enquired about a TT. They approached the sales guy and he did not seem interested, eventually the sales guy said I don't care if you buy it, I always exceed my targets or something like that. Audi is a glorified VW IMO.
