330i (07/05) About a litre every 5000kmīs (3000mls).
A little more in summer (full speed (155mph) on the autobahn in 5th @6400rpms for cruising burns more oil). A little less in winter (winter tires only rated to 132mph, so I max out at 135mph in 6th gear giving me 5300 rpms for cruising revs The N52 (as the M54 did too) does burn a bit more oil the higher you rev (especially if you run high revs for a longer time). But since the N52 can rev higher (7000rpm limiter vs. 6400 on the M54), it is capable of burning slightly more oil than the M54.

I've just had to add a litre of oil at 4630 miles on my Euro 325i. A little bit worried about the consumption at the moment, especially as I don't really gun it hard most of the time (although I do drive mostly in town).

Just had to put a quart in at 8500 miles. Was a it worried when I opened the cap, and it smelled in there and was a bit smoldering. I think I'm getting a new filter and some Mobil 1 for the weekend.

Low oil pressure alarm
At 8500km's, got low oil pressure alarm when stopping engine (a couple of times), got cold feet.
Checked oil level - low. Phoned dealer who said ok to drive and get oil. On my way to the shop I finally got the low level alarm. Is this normal? Low oil pressure first, then low level and 1liter oil the first 8500km's. |
