Be carefull !! You won't ever think it will happen to you until it's too late

Yesterday I parked up and locked my car at 7 / 7:30pm. I I didn't use the car until today morning.

Whilst walking up to it today I pressed the unlock button but to my surprise, the auto lights (welcome lights) didn't come on ?? I didn't think nothing of it but when I got near the door I noticed everything was turned inside out, I don't know how but someone managed to get into my vehicle over night and take a few stuff out my car ...

Cheeky buggers even left there gloves inside on my seat.. fortunately the car was not damaged at all, but I did manage to get my driving lisence and credit card stolen.

I don't know how this happened as I have the auto relock feature in my car, and I'm sure I locked it.

Time to invest in a decent dash cam ( anyone reading want to point me in the right direction?)

Why were your cards in the car? And opportunist thief, you left it unlocked, plain and simple.

you can get the car coded so that it will chirp when it locks/unlocks, giving you an audible notification that it is indeed locked

They can hide while you park up and the thieves have signal jammers. So as you are walking away from the car and press the button on the fob to lock the car they block the signal and the car doesnt lock.

I would be worried they didn't clone your key if they had signal jammers.

Sometimes i come back to my car and it is unlocked too and i am always positive i have locked it.

It is very odd

Bizarre!

How would a dashcam help?
Wouldn't the said thief/burglar simply not remove it unless it is a stealth install?

I have had my windows down once and put it down to me inadvertently having pressed the open button for a longer than usual duration when opening/disarming or closing/arming the car.

Have a look at:

That actually makes sense, where I park there was an individual standanding a few cars away on the phone ?? And where I live iv never seen him before.

I shall report this to the police ... Out of curiosity how do they jam the signal ? Because I'm 100%!
Sure I locked it

Ps how do I get the beeping noise to get coded ? ... Would it void warrenty ?

I guess my mild OCD helps ... I always check the door handle when i lock it and i make sure the immobilsier light is flashing when im walking away from the car

Unlucky this happened to you, defo contact the police they more than likely may be able to get prints (if they can be arsed) especially if he took his gloves off

And as for the fact you're sure you locked it... Maybe he did a gone in 60 seconds and recorded the frequency of your keys? (If thats possible)

Bad luck mate, I feel for you, it's never nice to get broken into.

But why oh why have your licence in the car?? and a credit card? So now they have your credit card AND a significant ID with your home address on too! Great! Hope you cancelled it!

My licence never leaves the safe at home, there's no requirement to carry your licence here. It's the UK, not North Korea And c-cards stay in my wallet in my pocket!!!

Dash cam seem pointless, they'd just steal that too!

Don't keep any papers in the car EVER - no licence, no V5, no insurance, no service book, nothing with your name or address on (business cards etc), don't program your home address into the SAT-nav as "home" etc etc, just common sense really.

That's a major worry for me.

I'd be joining up one of those credit reference agencies to keep an eye on my finances.

They've got more than enough I.D to take out plenty of credit.

Always watch for the indicators to flash and the red nipple to flash - only way.

Signal jamming is apparently done via a simple wireless door bell button.

Whether that is true or bs I don't know, always check the red for is flashing on your mirror then it's locked and alarmed.
Hope that's the end of that episode for you

And the first thing that will get stolen next time will be your dash cam!
Think about getting the audible lock/unlock feature enabled-it's pretty foolproof then...ahh,already mentioned!

So, when you got back to it....the auto lights were switched off.....which to me sais, he's unlocked it via remote somehow, the lights have come on...and so as not to draw attention to the car, he's turned the lights off!??

+1

Why on earth would you leave your credit card in the car?
Same goes for the driving license.

Something is not right and I am hiring James bond to solve this mystery.

Another possibility is that if you leave the interior light on, it turns off automatically when the battery level reaches at certain level (eg 11.5V). In that case if you unlock the car, the welcome lights will not come on to save the residual battery.

Don't discount it.

Car fobs all work in the same 433MHz frequency band by law, that band is also alocated to:

a) ministry of Defence
b) amateur radio operators
c) traffic information systems
d) Private and public access systems

Item d) includes remote door bells and electric gates and house alarms fobs etc.

It's simple physics that the strongest signal will overide others.

As there are millions of fobs and devices on the same band, then on occasion they will fail or block each other when activated together in close proximity. This problem is deemed acceptable because the signals are short duration, so it is assumed the user then just has to activate it again if it fails first time.

So the motto is always check its locked!
