UK 3 Series: Sparkling Brown?

Hi all, I'm in the process of deciding what to order and have found these forums really useful, particularly the pages dedicated to pictures of various colours and trims.

My local dealership has a 4-Series in Sparkling Brown in the showroom. Looks a stunning colour (certainly nicer than it sounds), but the guy I spoke to says it's 4-Series only.

Does anyone on here know whether or not this is planned to be made available for 3-Series as well? I'm ordering for a company car replacement due July. If it is due to make an appearance within a few months, I may delay getting my order in.

Thanks!

There's a BMW Individual colour called Smoked Topaz, which looks very nice - I think there is another but only available on specific lines (not on M Sport, for example) so you're better off using the BMW Configurator to see what's available.

Beyond individual colours, do BMW not let you choose your own colour which can be from anywhere?

Yeah they do, think it costs about £2k though - somebody on here did that but don't recall who.

Garage List
Captain Cow Pat has Valencia Orange.

Thats a special order colour.

Available as an option on M135i and M235i but not the F30 unless you pay the £2k.

I've got a non-standard (to the 3-Series) and a non-individual colour.

They only allowed me to choose from their current range of colours and I couldn't choose a colour than would be applied to M-cars. They said that I had to allow up to eight extra weeks on my order (but it was less). This is because they have to take the car off the normal production line to apply the paint. For me I was happy to wait to get the colour that I wanted.

You can see why I was willing to wait. Some people said that I would have trouble selling it (when that time comes). But I've spent my money buying a car that I want, not trying to buy a car that most people want.

That does look pretty sweet! But that £2k will bust my budget, unfortunately Will probably go down the Havana/Sparkling Bronze route.

Valencia Orange is a stunning colour. My wife had a 120dM Sport XDrive and loses of peoplehave commented in the first week she has had it. It was £550 on the 1 series but standard colours were just red, white or black.

I just don't understand the thought process around '...trouble selling it...'

Sure, it may appeal to a smaller cross section of people however when you come to sell it there will be 20 black (like mine) 30 silver, 4500 EBII and ONE Valencia Orange... I would argue that others will have an issue selling as one minor negative (no, Pro Nav, no elect seats, no Sport+) and the buyer can simply move on to the next.

Incidentally, despite living just around the corner from you I still haven't seen it about!!

I can absolutely recommend the Havana colour. It's gorgeous and very classy especially with the Oyster interior.

I've tried to not rely on the configurator too much, instead trying to look at cars in the flesh...or photos at least. Havanna does have a quality look to it - and I'm also going to pair it with the light beige/oyster interior.

I can't quite tell which is darker: Havanna, or Sparkling Bronze? I think I would prefer the darker of the two. Anyone seen two side by side?

I think Sparkling Bronze is the darkest of the two - have you seen the color thread? http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=695667

Yes thanks, I did. In the end I gave up flicking from one window to the other to try and figure it out. My eyes were going funny!

I take the attitude that if you're that worried about the resale value then you're looking at the wrong car anyway and should be looking at something cheaper in the first place.

Just back from looking at swatches at the dealership. I think it's looking like Sparkling Bronze.

Car looks stunning! I remember sitting at the lights once next to a 1 series in that colour, even though I am not a fan of the 1, I couldn't keep my eyes off it. It's very unusual and vibrant.

I wasn't worried about the resale value as I don't plan on selling it! I was just amused that other people were.

But don't forget that 10% of the EB2 cars will be superman which apparently will be impossible to sell

Didn't let it put me off so possibly there may be one or two other contrarians out there in addition to the ones that lurk on the forum........
