Anyone Ever Wrapped Hex Aliminum Interior?

I was thinking of swapping my hex aliminum interior for a smooth brushed ally set, but after jumping in the car 2 days ago thought its actually not a bad interior but i just want it all black.

So what i want to know is if anyone has ever wrapped the hex ally interior?

Ive never used 3m wrap before so dont know how thick it is and if the hex pattern would stand out if you was to wrap it.

All help/pics appreciated

I bought a second set of trims to wrap which were cubed, they wrapped ok with 3m carbon effect and cube effect couldn't be seen. maybe with thinner materials you may still get the effect but I would have thought it would have to be very thin and may split easily.

So you dont think the pattern would come out?
So if i was to wrap my interior it would loose the hex affect?

paint it rather than wrap it and it should retain the cube

on my e46 i painted the parts in satin black with the cube effect trim & the pattern showed through perfectly. youll never attain this with a wrap. the glue alone is enough to cover any pattern that might show through

If i dont like the look does this come back off ok without leaving glue on the interior?

Yeh ive never seen the stuff so wouldnt no if it would leave anything on if i didnt like it.

Is that painted hex? Looks really good actually, i would give it a go but it needs to be a super finish as you would notice every little mark.

Only problem with speaying is you would never be able to go back standard.

How much would someone charge to spray the bits?

Looking at it closely, it does look wrapped. Might want to ask a few members who've attempted wrapping a hex trim on their opinion first before you attempt it.

I wrapped mine this weekend, if you get the bubble free wrap and use a heat gun it basically sticks itself. Ive got no creases. Would recommend anyone to do this. Cost me £12 and noone else has it.

You can see the photos on here... It's purple so you may not like the colour as it's different but it's so easy to do. Just make sure you have a heatgun to go over with making sure the glue gets warm. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=935358

Only black or carbon would go in my car as i have the black leather and black roof lining, can the wrap be done with a hairdryer or is it not sufficent enough?

you will loose the hex definition with wrap, so if you want to be keeping that detail, paint is what you want.

Think il try the wrap if i dont like it i can always pull it off, if i paint it theres no going back, also how would you rub down hex? Just dont think you would get a decent finish on it

i would imagine you would just need a lot of patience to sand hex :P

post some pics up of the wrapped hex so we can all get a look-see even if its bad!
