Bluefin - Superchips on my e90 330d

Well at the weekend I installed my remap from superchips, they supplied me reset of the handset and firmware update along with the map for £230

Initial thoughts are power seems smooth but power band appear to last longer.

Didnt take long to install either, simply plugged in 10 mins of loading and downloading and its done.

Will update on fuel economy in a week so i can get a good indication if its eaten into it too much.

anyone else got one of these fitted?

http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/search?ma...33&variant=120

NB this is on a 2006 330d pre LCI model

I've used Bluefin before on a Golf GTi Edition 30 (detuned to 230bhp from 265bhp Audi S3 engine).

The Bluefin device and Superchips remap took it to almost 300bhp ! It was a superb map and made the car come alive. I have always regretted selling it.

However, when I used Bluefin on a 320d I hated the results so will be interested in how you get on after 100 or so miles.

I went to DMS for my LCI 330d and love it.

my understanding is that Bluefin only works on Pre-LCI.

so its been a week and i have reset my mpg every morning, averaging 40-41mpg which is better than prior to the remap where i was getting 38-39mpg.

driving its great fun, showed up a mountune focus st without any trouble and love the extra ooomph you get when mid gear accelerating.

Overall well worth the £230 considering the new handheld device is £359 with the map.

Now to decide is it worth keeping the handheld controller incase i ever need to switch back or simply sell it on for someone else to do the same.

I found switching back to normal for a few days in bad weather made me really appreciate the power from the map when I put it on again - it drove the wife mad as I was swapping every month or so for a few days but really made me realise how much extra power the map was giving me !

For MPG, work it out manually, I'm fairly sure the OBC incorrectly works out remap MPG at first as it's still learning how the car now uses fuel.

My Dad gave me his Bluefin from when he had his Cupra K1 so I could swap the map for mine if I fancy it, so Im rather tempted especially when the figures are so good.

Bluefin
194hp standard
62hp increase
256hp mapped

400nm standard
120nm increase
520nm mapped

Just need to give superchips a call.

They charge for resetting it + the map. Still a reasonable amount cheaper than getting the whole thing new though.

The Bluefin will only work on your car so selling it on isn't of much gain as it's pretty worthless. You got a good deal at £230 though, they charged me just over £300 when I had mine re done for the 325d (used to have it on an A6).

Best thing to do is keep it, you never know when you might want to switch back and there's the other immobilising functions of it too which you may want to use at some point. I still have mine for the 325d even though I don't have the car. The trader who has the car advertised at the moment has it as an option in his advert and I've agreed to sell it him if the buyer wants it.

I did. The dealer will buy it off me and install it if the purchaser wants it. I wasn't daft enough to let it go with it on, plus I traded it in at BMW and didn't want any comeback
