So not sure if this has been discussed but Im pretty certain I caught a Regen happen on a drive tonight.

Egt went to 1200f 'ish and MPG's went to about 18 while doing 60 on a flat two lane road. After a few minutes it went back to 5-600 EGT and 36mpg's

Best I can figure that was my Regen. On a side note, It made my SES light come on for my blocked EGR that I had cleared prior. weird

Your "EGR commanded activity" should also go to 0, or closed during a Regen. Assuming you still have it all hooked up with it blocked.

I do have it hooked up still, but I didn't notice it. I did notice that I normally get between 60-90% activity while doing from 20-30mph here. Need to fin a solution to this CCV too.

Yeah, I caught a regen last week too using my engine link app. EGR command went to 0% and fuel pump rate liters/hour went from ~6 to 10 at steady highway cruising speed. It lasted about 10 to 12 minutes.

I haven't played around yet with the CCV system, but looking at it, I wonder if we can separate it on the hose that comes off the valve cover and goes down to the intake elbow. Per the BMW tech article, the CCV is monitored by the OBD, but appears it is only via a circuit on the upper connection that mates to the valve cover. Believe as long as you divert it after the valve cover without altering the circuit you might have success. Or at least that is my hope. I might find time this Sunday to dig into investigating.

Edit - I did notice something interesting during the regen event. About once every 30 seconds there would be an EGR command for ~20 or 30% that would only last a couple seconds. Suspect this was the DDE's way of insuring the exhaust in the cooler did not get too hot during regen and allowed some through so as to not get stagnate.

I tried to do just what you said but didnt have success. Its very tight in that area due to the intake and turbo. Best way so far as I can figure would be to take it closest to the factory ccv hookup area and return it to the correct flow path. If I had an extra hard pipe, id cut it at the ends where is round and run a hose.

Is this the iPhone app that you are running to track this? Also what plugs into the car to transmit the data?

its on android. I believe It works on the iphone but due to some limitation you have to buy a more expensive wifi OBD2 adapter. I use a cheap 14$ Bluetooth adapter from amazon

You can figure out DPF regens by watching the mpg gauge. I notice on highway driving my mpg's drop considerably for about 20mins. During city driving it is hard to tell though.

I do a lot of short trip city driving.
Some times the fan starts up when I shut the engine off, but outside temp is not that high. My guess is that the engine was shut down during a regen. There is no other way for me to tell when the regen takes place.

I enjoy using the BT OBDII dongle and Torque Pro to monitor this kind of stuff as well. Here's my main gauge cluster showing several example screen shots of data display during and after DPF regen. That exhaust really gets hot during regens.

I have the Scangauge, and it shows the EGR closed or 0% commanded activity. Unfortunately, the Scangauge can't pull EGT data...

The EGR is "mostly" closed during regen. There are times when it blips above 0 depending on driving conditions. When not in DPF regen mode and during normal driving (as long as it's not super cold) the EGR rate was extremely high on my car after the EGR recall was performed.

Yes, this was prior to DPF/SCR/EGR removal.

Mine is mostly in the 90's, under acceleration it goes down a lot, sometimes even at 0 if I floor it.

watching my egr, It seems like it opens when I give it full, but shuts off while coasting. Seems driving it hard would add to the carbon problem instead of help. More research must be done.
