Although i don't have my car yet I've been looking into this with interest.
It is very much down to driving style but it seems to range from 350 - 450 miles per tank depending on driving style. Roughly 37mpg - 45mpg and over 50mpg seems achievable with a light right foot. Anything around the 40mpg mark and i'll be happy. |

I did 550 trying to see what I could get. Got bored half way through and went back to normal driving. So in theory you could get more than that but what's the point in having that engine.
Normal driving I'm just under the 40 mpg mark but which considering the go on tap is incredible. Have been in loan 320i this week which is somewhat slower (polite version) and I can't get more than 33mpg out of it. Looking forward to getting back in my car again.

You get nearer to 500 miles out of a tank at around 40mpg. Did Manchester and back couple of weeks ago without filling up and that's 530 miles and I still had some left. Was on about 43mpg and ACC was set around 80-85 mark except for road works.
Mine's done over 10k now so quite loose.

37mpg is the best I've managed but now dropping back towards 36mpg. My driving is all A and B roads with regular overtaking.

I've only had my car a few days but I'm averaging about 40 so far. Got 42 on the way to work this morning which is unbelievable. I think I'll make a log of my mpg and see if it actually increases as the car loosens up. It'll be hard to tell exactly until this time next year though as the temperatures will start rising soon which will have a positive affect on my mpg figure.

If those journeys were fairly urban, 30mpg doesn't surprise me. Cold weather, short journeys with no time for the engine to get warm; not a good recipe for economy. Whilst warming quicker, I think a 320d would struggle to get 40mpg but a 335i would be in the low 20s. 335d doesn't look so bad then.

We are averaging 40mpg in ours but it does mainly short journeys at the moment ...... 6 miles with one stop twice per day.
When I use the car for the longer runs I easily get 45 mpg and above. Not sure how some are getting such low mpg? |
