Lightbulb 335D - prevent automatic upshifts in M-mode

Anyone know how to prevent automatic upshifts in m-mode on a 335D?
Just like this:

Is this a trick question or am I missing something?

Surely that video explains its all if not I'm pretty sure you should not be driving

It is my understanding that the auto-upshift will occur if you mash the pedal to the floor and hold it, but will not occur if you ease into the higher revs. I have not tried either, and I have never taken an M gear all the way to redline. Certainly have mashed it in both D and DS and held it, but never when in M.

Foot flat to the floor in m mode, it will rev hard all the way to the redline then change gear.

I dont think you can stop it, but why would you want it to bounce off the limiter anyways?

The guy in the video has clearly done something to his gearbox beacuse it would normaly upshift by itself even in manual mode.

The only gearbox that can hold gears and bounce the limiter is bmws smg so this automatic must have some mods.

By preventing upshifts while drifting etc. Very usefull mod, but how did he do it?

Chriz I think your right it automatically shifts by itself but we can try to do ourselves and give feed back

he's holding the shifter down so it's holding the gear.

Although I don't know why you'd want to.

haha, I didnt realize that was even a question, I thought it was the OP's video. Yeah you can hold gear at rev limit by holding the shifter back, but like everyone else has said...why?

335dfan is also right that if you ease up to it you can get it to hold on rev limit should you want that.

Would it damage your car?

I understand a little better now, I believe he is holding it in - to keep it in the gear he was in so it won't change. My D in sport mode won't change up if I have selected say 2nd gear.

I would prefer to hold mine in 2nd so I can do a drift easier, as mine changed up to 3 mid drift but continued to wheel spin Upto 80mph on the rev limiter in 3rd. But I was only doing about 10 mph

short burst no. If youre driving around town on the limiter for 10 minutes you might have an issue. The limiter isnt meant to be a safe constant operating RPM its to prevent over revving so whether or not you will cause oil starvation, foaming, stretched rods, etc. I have no idea. I cant imagine a single scenario in which someone would find this beneficial (holding on the limiter, not just holding the gear). Only time it would even "make sense" would be if you were showing off the sound but then you could just cruise at more like 4k and 99.9% wont know the difference...

Its all about drifting and even trying to do a nice launch with some moderate wheel spin is impossible with 750nm of torque when the damn gearbox chooses to engage the next gear in the middle of all the fun!
