Smile M5 vs CTS-V coupe

Just not fair M5 in break in period and M5 driver - not into street racing yet they meet and he is ahead of the M5 and slows down and pulls really hard and of course it was clear that M5 can close the gap if - not in break in and again driver is not into street racing -

What do you think guys?

BTW
CTS-V has one of the best exhaust notes I ever heard...
I was able to hear it like 0.5 mile away and still very loud!!!
But I am sure it is cabin intrusive and drones really bad... has to... or I will be really suprised !!

Whats the details:

0-60
0-100
60-130

etc...

The CTS-V is a great bang for the buck but Im glad I can spend more and got the M5. As for who wins its all depends on conditions drivers and who may get the jump first as they are pretty close in numbers. Id like to think the M5 with the right driver wins all three of my propositions. The DCT will definitely help over the std tq converter automatic of the Caddy in the rollers.

I had an '09 CTS-V sedan (which weighs the same as a CTS-V coupe). Stock for stock it is no contest. The M5 has much more power and better traction. In very similar conditions at the track and similar states of tune (CTS-V had K&N drop in filter and custom Catback and M5 had race mufflers and K&N drop in filters) the M5 was .5s quicker in the 1/4 mile and 5+Mph faster. I will say the CTS-V had better steering feel and the MRC suspension was very effective. But the interior materials are a HUGE let down in the CTS-V.

I almost purchased one a year ago but I couldn't because of interiors!
I hear you
But aural pleasure in CTS-V is probably unmatched!

Raced one last week. I was cruising on a toll road in the middle of the night with no other cars around. All of a sudden I saw HID headlights approaching really fast. He got right next to me and did couple 3rd gear jerks to let me know he was interested. I was with my wife and two dogs in the car, but she always gives me a thumbs up to go for it.
I downshifted to third gear and I honked 3 times. We went on the third honk and he stuck with me until top of 3rd gear. As soon as I shifted to 4th, the M started pulling away. We ended up going the same direction and as soon as we got off the freeway we got stuck at the light next to a CHP officer. Chatted for a minute and gave each other thumbs up.
I still like those cars.

Coming from a '13 coupe to the m5. First question I get from friends and family, " which one is faster".

My response:

They both monsters off the line, until it comes time to shift.....end of sentence........ Lol

So DCT is that noticeably faster!
I came from 550i ZF transmission and that was really impressively fast too ...
I can't feel the difference in shifting but I am no pro by no means but actually I noticed that between D and R is a lot faster in ZF like a lot faster which is frustrating to me in parking lots!!
Does it feel sportier and more spirited shifting... yes that i can feel... but faster not sure!

But the engine itself I'd a lot more powerful with obvious superior capabilities that no tuned 550i should aspire to!! And if they are head to head on a race it must be 550xi so traction and offline... but
Trade will always be 115 or 116 max on 550xi
And quarter mile will always be above 12 sec

The DCT shifts are indeed faster but the biggest gain in the DCT is the LACK of parasitic loss. It effectively transfers more of the hp to the ground (less DT loss) than convetional tq converter automatics.

Thats why E92 M3's could run with cars with more hp and how a GTR with that 3900lb curb weight was/is so efficient.

Everytime I think I know a lot about cars...
I turns out I am just scratching the surface -
Thank you vic55

And the while box is lighter too!
I didn't exactly understand why a Torque Covered will have parasitic effect! Though -
What about the multi clutch that MB has,
I heard best transmission speed of shifting is 50 ms... not sure how fast is BMW DCT... it is made in house right?
