Interior: beige or black?
Hi, thanks to all those who helped me choose my exterior colour. I've decided to wait for Mystic Blue.
Now I've got another question, interior: beige or black? (with titanium trim) I like beige because its lighter colour brightens up the interior. However, is the black dash, beige interior, and titanium trim a bad combination? Does it seem too busy? I like the black because its darker colour seems sleek. However, is the black dash, black interior, and titanium trim a bad combination? Does it seem too plain? As if everything is black? Last edited by icedragon; 05-29-2005 at 07:39 PM.. |

Once you go black you never go back
I'm no expert, but I thought I would definitely go with beige, but once I drove in it for about 20 minutes it quickly became boring. Colored leather looks cool, but not in beige imo. I think you'll get bored quickly. Just a sea of beige. Even the name is boring. Beige. Hmmmm.
Black is clean and classic. Have you considered terra? Might just surprise you. Good luck. sparky |

Black leather is 10 times easier to maintain. Here's a great idea: if you go to your dealer and look at the used cars check out the interiors of the various colors. Beige & grey tend to show dark creases and lines over time.....kind of like people.
My black interiors always look 99% new and original. Don't let your white shedding dog anywhere near the black interior though....yikes!

disclaimer: if the following sounds really dumb, just ingore me.
i personally wouldn't mix blue w/ black... maybe fashion rules don't apply to cars, but i never wear a blue shirt with black pants. Call me stupid for even trying to make this analogy, but that's just the way i feel. I would go with beige... however, and again this is just my opinion, i wouldn't mix the beige with titanium trim... i'd go with one of the wood trims... In conclusion, if you end up going with black, get titanium trim... if you decide on beige, get wood trim... again just my $0.02.

So you're saying a black shirt looks bad with bluejeans? There goes half my wardrobe.

It all comes down to how you use the car IMO. If you even remotely think of your new E90 as an enthusiast car and are going to drive it "spiritely". Then Black (or dark in general) is the way the go. Racing cars and boats (and aircrafts etc) often have matt black interiors to reduce glare and make you focus on the road instead of the interior while driving.
And this really works! I've always had black interiors for this reason and won't be switching to lighter colours anytime soon... And as for Black & Blue. Well as a general rule it's good to be weary of this combo but some combinations work! The combo to watch out for IMO is a REALLY dark blue compared with black. And mystic blue isn't that dark. But just look at todays E46! They exist in Mystic Blue with black interior. |

I think with the titanuim trim you must go for black. It looks horrible with the beige. HOWEVER, if you can afford the wood trim (either one) then the beige and blue would look awesome. Beige is really nice, just not with the titanium trim!!

Hm well for reasons stated i don't care for beige. My supervisor happens to have a Mystic/Black leather 325i now. When i saw it i thought of a bruise.. black and blue ya know. Grey is a "little" more forgiving then beige and looks great with mystic. I def dont like alum on beige, i saw that on Audi YUK!
just another 2c, good luck |

Here's my take on the E90 interiors:
Black, Grey & Beige - Good but not outstanding. Everything's in the same colour. Trims will break the monotony but only interiors with wood trims will pull through for the 'wow' factor. • Black - sea of black nothingness but easiest to look after • Grey - not exactly ugly but nothing to shout about, either • Beige - needs a wood trim to work nicely Lemon & Terra - Now, these are something else. They're the only interior where plastics are black to contrast the leather. Even door panels are classy with black grab handles for a nice touch. Interior as a whole looks elegant. These leather colours are difficult to accurately reproduce. Don't be misled by what you see on the net. They have to be seen IRL to be appreciated. Be prepared to be bowled over – 'wow' becomes 'WOW !!!' • Lemon - commit yourself to keeping your beauty beautiful • Terra - easier to keep but matches limited exterior colours Favourite: Black Sapphire with Lemon interior. Any trim but best with Burr Walnut. Re-think your blue ? |

If i lived anywhere outside of the US, where lemon interior was available,... i'd take that in a heart beat... come to think of it, lemon would look good in the mystic blue or black! so you don't necessarily have to re-think the blue.

My dad changed his order from black interior with alu-trim to a beige interior with alu-trim (as in the picture above).. He always had black interiors but in the E90 he found the black a little bit boring, everything was black and depressing.
Especially since he didn't order leather and i-Drive, the interior looks much better with the beige interior, the black upper-dashboard and alu trim.. He doesn't like the classic look of the wood-trim.. I could not find pictures of that combination so I photoshopped very quickly a very bad impression, just for the idea.. I don't know why the picture became so small, but it doesn't matter because it's just a impression and now you can't see the bad finishing so clear |

I got the Saphire Black with Biege interior and Pop. Wood Trim and it looks great! I think the dark color with the light interior gives a nice contrast, however, IMO....if you go Biege, the wood trim is a much more natural fit vs. Aluminum....just my opinion. I also went with black all weather mats to offset the biege somewhat and it looks good.

I am still dying to see a picture of Terra interior that shows the color accurately. 99% of the pics that show up on the internet are really ORANGE. The only one that I think is more accurate is a close up picture of the arm rest.
Gotta get over to a dealer to see it in person. In the meantime, anyone have some decent pics of a terra interior? |
