Footwell Lighting LEDs?

just saw that pic and I love the footwell lighting of the new F10... has anyone ever done this to their e90/e92 with a LED strip that matches the other interior lights? If so, what kind did you use? Thanks!

Red light is so harsh on the eyes. That said, this just gave me some GREAT ideas for footwell and puddle lighting
Anyone sell red LEDS for a BMW E92/E93 lighting kit?

HighPerformanceBulbs.com once sold a kit with amber LEDs that very closely matched the BMW ambient lighting--I'm not sure if they still do. Check with Jeff@TopGearSolutions??

Red isnt really harsh on the eyes i'd thing, its probably the most subtle of all colors. It's probably the hardest to see and doesn't cause you eyes contract, thats why astronomers often use red filters on a flashlight.

HPB offers their interior kits in Red, Amber, Blue and white.

As far as harshness, Red is actually used in the military cause it's actually the easiest on the eyes. It allows your eyes to easily adjust in dark lighting.

The brightness and output of the Red Blue and Amber is a bit exaggerated in this picture.

I'm interested in making my Ambers brighter as-well in my e90. What is the specific bulb for this?

If you are referring to your ambient lighting they are not replaceable.

You can only change footwell, door/courtesy, vanity, dome, map, center console(e92) and trunk.

I guess I'll have to find a LED amber light strip and wire it into a fusetap or something like that.

Red lighting also maintains your night vision
You can have red interior lighting, and still be able to see outside at night

Thanks guys. However, I just thought how red LEDS would clash with my ambient lighting...I'll stick with my HPB white LED set

So there's no work around to getting that swapped? Or perhaps, adding strips in the door area to get more of the OEM orange soft lighting?

well, they CAN be swapped but it is a huge PITA and not worth it. but you can add LED strips to the footwells, it is all a matter of finding ones that match...

Right. There is no direct plug and play replacement for your ambient lighting. You would need to do some custom work. Sourcing led strips and wiring them in yourself.

Finally got around to doing this and I'm very happy with the results

The LED strips are powered by the same 12v source that controls the rest of the interior LEDs, so they are adjusted by the setting in the pic I attached.

Sorry for the blurry pics, all I have is my iPhone camera

I saw the same picture a while ago, and have been meaning to give this a try. Could you post a DIY? Also, where did you grab the LEDs from?

Looks great!

I actually have a red neon light bar on the footwell. It was actually like that when I bought it i think it looks cool and not so bright either so doesnt really bother me.

Oh I definitely saw what you're doing. I was just stating this was a popular trend after the release of the first F&F movie.
